What is it? I've heard several things. I try and improve and nothing gets better.
It's pretty hard to say really. There's a lot going on and I have no idea what's happening in your picture...
The shading is pretty nice, the perspective is a little haphazard. The main problem is that there's no basis. No ground that is recognizable and relate-able, what was your intention with this picture? Your reference?
well... it looks like an alien machinery but... i thinks that there are too many clashing colours, no central piece to draw attention...
pld: Too much pressure! My deviantART site
Why not take whatever the central item is in your pic and isolate it, work on it separately from the background? Once you've got the basics down there, and have a feel for the object or character, then pay more attention to the environment.

"Skill is the result of trying again and again, applying our ability and proving our knowledge as we gain it. Let us get used to throwing away the unsuccessful effort and doing the job over. Let us consider obstacles as something to be expected in any endeavor; then they won't seem quite so insurmountable or so defeating." - Andrew Loomis
