a 5min pen sketch
hey nice work. im no expert or anything( if you want one go check out hideyoshi, that guys very impressive) your gestures and form look fine, the shading is what needs some tweakin.
thanks for stopping by my sketchbook! you've got nice stuff going on, lots of faces. i'd say you could benefit from concentrating on the planes and structure of the face even more. some of the noses seem symbolic while some others look pretty realistic - are those pics from the same time?
can't say much more constructive for now - show us more!
cool stuff in here...
some faces need better proportions...
this will come better with practice...
keep working and it will come nicely!
kuwakovski thanks i will try to spend more time on my line work n see how it works out
katinki thanks yeah they're from around about the same time i'll post more asap n i'll try to fit in doing some face studies
Creatinity hey thanks for stoppin by n thanks for the advice
heres some scribbles i did last night
heres some stuff i've done at school
the first ones a tone study from a modmesh mask i made n the other one is a friend
Hey! Ok, so let's see...
thescala made a good remark already, you could try to improve your shading. But that is just one of many things you could practice. You're already doing great by working from reference - some sketches are looking pretty accurate also!
It's always a matter of practice, you need to hang in there and constantly draw. It simply needs time. Try loosening up some of your lines maybe, keep it sketchy in the beginning. But try to draw with confident lines rather than scribbly ones. Basic routines like drawing many parallel lines and circles are good practice as well and will make your strokes more fluid.
hey there, Hideyoshi basicly said it. It seems to me like you are going very dar very fast with some of your work, rather try to start off loose and then gradually work more contrast into your art, just a thought ^^
Keep up the work, you are doing good.
Thanks guys appreciate the words of wisdom i'll bear them all in mind.
here is an overdue update of the joker n random tandoms
Thanks for visiting my sketchbook. For now only thing I can advise you is to draw draw draw ... and then draw some more. You'll see effects soon. And keep posting, this page will help you improve - without a doubt.
then draw draw draw and draw i shall, basically i've done a page a day for three days so here they are
heres an unedited picture i did for a friend a while back its of Anna Paquin
Keep drawing m8 you have CA support
My favorites are the FIRST picture... it just looks really alive and moving... awesome drawing and then the last piece you did... it is really nice.. has great detail
Thanks guys the kind words are most appreciated
heres a long due update a couple of quick pen squiggles inspired from the latest imaginefx mag n a piece from way back with possibly the worst painting ability known to mankind yet im showing it due to the fact I kinda like it aside the paint
heres another old one still kinda like it which is rare for me, after a couple of days I tend to despise my stuff
anyway here it is the main guy from bloc party
here is something i started today
Hi Ben, nice sketching skills, I particularly like the portrait of Anna Paquin, she's so beautiful, I think you should draw just pictures of her, and nothing else Its Ben here by the way(other Ben, not you from the future!) if you hadn't worked that out yet, nice sketchbook, thanks for the pic of anna, your scan doesn't do it justice, I have it on my wall and its awesome ! and thanks for the inspiration to keep drawing despite my currently humble skills, will get better the more I practice, and then I'll start my own sketchbook ! keep posting MORE, I know you draw tons more than this I've seen your bulging sketchbooks !!!
Cya soon mate !
hey thanks ben love the name n btw if anyone else read that the sketchbook thing it isn't a euphemism
here is a half done pic of the previously posted sketch i'd like peoples recommendations on what is good n bad bout this as i've never really used photoshop for colouring any crits n comments welcome as usual
two below average today sketches
Very cool stuff, you deff. have a handle on how to shade. What I would recommend is that you try and clean up your lines before you shade- make sure you have proportion and whatnot all set up. You seem to push eyes too close together, on occasion, for example. Another thing is that you seem to be using the smudging technique, unless I'm mistaken. This isn't a bad thing, but it really doesn't allow you to represent a true range of values. If you use a pencil light enough, you can shade and have it be just as smooth- or, if you want, you can hatch or otherwise, and leave it rough, like in your pen work.
Still, it's really good work. Keep it up!
thanks for the crit but i only really use smudging for that paquin picture n on odd occasion im not really reliant on it or anything thanks anyway tho
snowed in in little ol northampton today n canna b botherd to draw just yet so i'll post something i did like a year ago probably more now but its a3 n my scanners only a4 size so thats why the scans bad had to do half of it at a time, well thats my excuse
heres an experiment with pencils n ink scan didn't come out great
