I hope this wasn't posted before but it looks reaaaaaaaally sweet for quick conceptualisation. It sure looks it could go beyond automotive design..A 3D curve sketching system that captures some of the affordances of pen and paper for professional designers, allowing them to iterate directly on concept 3D curve models. The system coherently integrates existing techniques of sketch-based interaction with a number of novel and enhanced features. Novel contributions of the system include automatic view rotation to improve curve sketchability, an axis widget for sketch surface selection, and implicitly inferred changes between sketching techniques. We also improve on a number of existing ideas such as a virtual sketchbook, simplified 2D and 3D view navigation, multi-stroke NURBS curve creation, and a cohesive gesture vocabulary.
The linked video from their page is actually a tad bigger:
My personal favorite is the automatic rotaion of work surface based on your arcs. I swore so much when going from an animation disc to a wacom a few years ago!
That looks absolutely awesome!
And mind you, I'm usually a reserved person. Pity it's not available for public use.
Do you know of any other software like that?
This is 2D marrying 3D. The possibilities for animation are mind blowing.
