Hey there ppl.. as allways I turn to the relialbe and superb community when ever I am in doubt
I've been working on this piece, and well.. what do you think? are the hands ok, the feet ?
I'm quite happy with it, allthough it lacks some detailing like scales, and a background colour.
Will post update tommorow
Hey, DefiledVisions. The anatomy and color scheme look okay to me, but what this piece is lacking is some form. Establish a light source and throw some shadows in there. This might mean you lose some of the detail you've put in, but I think it will help alleviate the flatness.

Agreed on the light source. The almost equal attention to all of the beast flattens it out. Hiding some details in the shadow will help in that case, as well as highlighting only certain areas.
The anatomy of the body looks solid, although the head looks a bit flat. His pose is quite good. Watch out for the leg in the back - its shape looks a bit inconsistent with the one on the front (I don't mean the "hands").
Soulweaver - Thanks alot, yea I've realised what I mostly don't think of when making a piece is having a consistent lightsource. I start paying much more attention on that now.
Nightblue thank you very much, I'll get working on it right away.
Duman I hope so too , I'll pay some more attention to the feet and hands.
I just find that dinosaur like feet look incredible, and if you do them right, they can really make a piece. Oh, forgot. The eye, he needs one.
I would try for a reptilian style, a round eye with vertical slit. I recommend vibrant colors, oranges, greens and purples.
Thanks Duman, allthough I have another palette in mind.. am going for something hellish. But I feel the red is killing the piece, maybe add a greenish/blue-ish tone from the left just to make things messy?
I had been trying the background literly all day. Thats why I havnt been posting anything.. but finnaly achieved some results. At the moment I'm trying to add all the orange light to the creature, shoulder, around the spikes.. light that here and there etc. Havn't started working on feet and scaling yet. I'll pay extra detail to those things later on.
Thanks for all the feedback, what do you think about the piece now? also toned down the highlights... it feels like I've just met an old friend.. Somewhere on the road I totaly forgot how much impact light really has, and how important it is to pay attention to the light source.. it feels like I've finnaly found that again
as far as the piece goes now there are 3 sources. Red from the left (being replaced). Fiery orange from behind, and just some highlight light from the front.. think the head is overkill. Will adjust that aswell.
I think that saturated red background takes away from the beast, was much easier on the eyes with the grey..... little late I know. Nice details. the head right now it reading as flat, I think either creating some more form with some contour lines or turning the head slightly will help.
The detail and skin texture is working very well. The tail and arms look great. And the eye, while probably not realistic, looks very cool. Now is the background glowing orange, or is that him? Because to me, it looks like he is glowing...
Thanks Jason. Gonna play with some desaturation and stuff..
Duman yea it's supposed to be the background but now that you mention it it looks like he is glowing.. oh so much to clean up on this piece.
