I've been lurking and am constantly amazed at what I see on this board. I'm hoping to find some info on sculpture painting. Mostly I'm looking for technical information -- types of paint, primer, brushes, etc. Also any tips/techniques from the great artists here would be fantastic. I work mostly in digital media but I'm trying my hand at some sculpy sculpts. Thanks in advance.
Try to be more precise. We use different kind of paint, depending of your base (plaster, resin, silicone...) Obviously using different tools allow to achieve realism. I like to use both airbrush and brushes, with acrylics, pigments and some washed with oils. I'm working from light to dark and from general to details.
Build slowly your tones to have more control because there is no CTRL+Z in real life
If you have some more questions about a particular project maybe i can help you.
Thanks DE.. Well currently I'm working with Super Sculpy. Once baked I want to give myself a good base to paint on. I've heard auto primer works well for this? What reasons cause you to choose one paint over another? Are some easier to work with than others? Are there any media that you would avoid?
I'd love to see something along the lines of smellybugs tutorial as it comes to painting. (I know this is alot to ask)
