Current Groke WIP.
Atlantean Anarchist that I didn't continue and a more human creature for once.
thats a pretty sick looking monser so far.
did you get the idea from the dantes inferno monster? at least the arm parts.
Sketchbook which wants you to comment ALL over it
Alchemy sketch and COW. What would Freud say?
Some Creature of the Weeks I've made. I'm currently attending to a summer course at school so I still don't have any time or stamina to draw after the long days. I try to participate in COW's though.
Aaaand no, I haven't been practicing humans. x( Or well, I did check some tutorials and did some drawings on paper for a few days but nothing apart from that. :E I try to get some actual practicing done during August which is my only holiday month this summer.
EDIT. Oops! Apparently I uploaded a WIP of the Eve's Bane. :X Wonder where the final is...
EDIT2. Theeere we go. The bugger was hiding in school computer. *re-upload*

Wow Arbinn, first time looking through your sketchbook and you are truly an inspiration especially when it comes to creatures and the rendering your able to do these days. Remember to keep up your life studies do things that your bad at and keep switching to keep yourself interested and keep it fun fun fun!
Thanks fudge. I really need to practice a lot more. I've been very lazy and I think it's just because I've been drawing COW's which I like the most. Having no contrast and doing only the fun stuff etc...
I try to start eating my vegetables and behaving. Here's a little bit of something. Few VERY fugly and lame speedy sketches drawn in about 30-45 minutes total and a quick anatomy practice. No colorpicking or tracing ofc.
Well that human is no good, but those creatures... I think I've orgasmed on the one with asteroid! Great rendering and design. And most of the other creatures are awesome. Sweet sb, wish you luck, mate!
I started working on faces which are like kryptonite to my Achilles' heel. Drawn from Burne Hogarth's dynamic figure drawing- book.
I was supposed to draw a lot more during the weekend but I ended up being preoccupied more than I expected. :E In addition drawing these faces took way longer than I thought.
I didn't like the first set of faces at all so I took a second round with them which went much better already.
Lazy lazy me. Only two sheets of studies this week. X_X Oh well. One more week of school, then I have more time to draw though I will probably try to relax quite a bit.
Thank you for the piece of advice skMOP. I was about to move on to some other studies already but decided to keep on drawing faces from my memory after your comment. It helped quite a bit because even though the faces are very generic and basic male ones and not even very good, I feel much more comfortable in drawing them already!
Everything here drawn without any reference.
Okay. So I broke my promise of drawing hell of a lot during my holiday of three weeks. I only made a few anatomy studies which I haven't scanned and watched a tutorial series.
Instead of being Sir Drawalot I've been having a pause from photoshop and art in general. During the holiday I noticed that the reason why I draw relatively little is probably because currently I don't enjoy it that much. I either don't draw at all OR I'm working on some massive project trying to create something technically impressive. There is no middle ground for me and drawing is merely a technical performance. The fact that I have a very, VERY bad habit of pointlessly spamming F5 in the internet probably hinders my progress quite a bit as well.
So my current project is to bring the fun back into drawing and to break a habit of wasting my time in the browser. I start it by finally trying to get rid of that terrible terrible vibe that I was criticized in the very first reply in this sketchbook. So I try not to get depressed and jealous when watching superior artists' works.
Anyway, now that I've got those oh-so-deep thoughts out of my mind I think I'll actually upload something. I was watching this photoshop painting tutorial on youtube and tried to apply what I saw. I drew a semi realistic version of Wartortle pokemon. I've been thinking about drawing realistic pokemons for a long time and I enjoyed making this quite a bit. It is not polished but I'm in a dead end with it as I don't know how to continue and I leave it as it is. I'll probably make more of these as light and color studies. Gotta twist the design more in the next one since this one looks too much like the original.
I was looking at your posts back from 2008 to now and the progression in your work is astounding. KEEP IT UP. Please stop by at my sketchbook and give me some crit
Nice sb! I like the idea of doing realistic pokemons as well. Good start! I can totally see a realistic picachu with all sorts of lightning and what not.
As for not being able to do small practice type things, I think you should really try to push your way through that. When you try and make your best piece everytime, you never end up learning the little things that make up great works. Keep at it! Curious to see what you do from here out. Also, if you're really interested in doing something big there is a 2 week cow going on right now.

This is fun. I was able to draw for about an hour before I became distracted by MSN and internet. X_X In the end this WIP took about 2-3 hours to make. :@ And the hands still need work. I didn't start painting over the lineart yet like I did with the previous one immediately after the lineart was done.
Current state. I think I'll need to watch a part or two of the tutorial series again since I think abra blends with the background too well.
All these creature designs are just awesome. And very nice rendering. And some nice studies
Those last few head/skull turn arounds are solid!!
And I love the different textures and colours you use in your cows and personal pieces!
Awesome. A lot of imagination from start to finish and those faces really came together in the end. Shame you haven't posted since Jan. Keep posting i'm interested in seeing what you would do next.
Just thought I would pop in and say I enjoy what you're doing here! Loved you're COW entry.
wow, you shure have lots of COW entries here. I need to do more of these acitivities myself. I like the fun and humor that shows thru in the few I´ve seen on this page.
What would Freud say?
"Sometimes a giant horse-wang-nightmare creature is just a giant horse-wang-nightmare!"
A tutor once said to me: "Let your mind go!" and it didn´t come back.

Some really inspiring works here, lovely creatures designs!
Hope you will keep working, and uploading - tons of great designs waiting for you to be obtained
What helps me with self motivation is standing while i am doing some digital work (inspired by Matt Kohr http://conceptart.org/forums/showthr...d-daily/page10) .
At first it seems to be weird, but once i tried it i never come back to the sitting position.
Somehow i feel less lazy, and more focused. Worth to try if you still have laziness problems
