If you are still in school, you might look into whatever art program they have. I would definitely suggest studying life drawing/still life/anatomy. However that is just standard advice. The journey of an artist is a long one, so it's good to get a start on the basics early, it will make things easier later on. Don't stop drawing the stuff you love to draw though and keep posting here!

And now...Z.Man Micro!

Samurai Em: It just so happens that I have a copy of Burne Hogarth's Dynamic Anatomy; and that attempt at a still life was based on a Tabasco bottle (eat Louisiana's seafood).

start composing your pages more. There's nothing on them, practically.

I don't get to practice anatomy enough, therefore my stuff is nowhere near the quality of everyone else's.

The latest upload happens to be better than my older stuff (A lot of my older stuff was made before I studied anatomy from an online tutorial). Sorry about the darkness of the image; there was nothing I can do.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, just keep at it, with time, patience and practice you'll improve. Everyone starts out at square one, it can sometimes be intimidating when you compare your work with others who have more experience, just don't give up! I should actually be much better than I am (given my age) but I spent a large portion of my life not taking art seriously, and only recently did I realize I wanted to improve , sometimes I see younger guys that are 1000x better than me and I get a little discouraged. But you just have to keep going at it, keep trying to learn and improve and it will come in time!

Don't worry, it will all work out. Besides, I have a Flash art I need to complete some time (I never found use for most of Photoshop's tools). Sorry for the image quality, but this was before I discovered the export to PNG option in Corel Photo-Paint (not to be confused with Corel Painter).

when scanning your drawings please make the resolution smaller (like 72 or 150) because i cant even see the whole of some of the drawings

i think you need to put more care into each line you put down. it seems like you are just drawing each line down in one or two strokes without really thinking about form, which makes your drawings flat.

everything you draw is built of smaller building blocks. those airships you draw are made of rectangular solids and cylinders, the head is made of a sphere and some other prisms. try to draw through.

by draw through i mean, for example, the head drawing in the latest post, that you actually draw the sphere first (LIGHTLY), and then attach the chin protrusion, then slowly build off (adding hair last)

http://www.anticz.com/heads.htm

heres a good tutorial on drawing the head

check out andrew loomis and george bridgeman's anatomy books, and maybe look into some drawing tutorials online

I would say you should try loosening up. Your drawings feel very stiff, try relax when you draw, not every line has to be perfect, you have to find those lines and it probably won't be the first one you put down.

Thanks for the advice, and I did look at polykarbon.com's drawing tutorials and have a copy of Burne Hogarth's Dynamic Anatomy(note: I'm not angry, I'm just letting people know). I'll rescan those incredibly huge pics when I get the chance.

Just keep practicing anatomy and drawing the figure. You seem to have good ideas about design you just need to learn the basics of figures and anatomy to illustrate the designs better. Keep practicing!
