I'm building off of the sketchbook idea only for my bass playing. I want very much to improve. Please help!
http://youtube.com/user/Bassnoob21I played guitar (extremely badly) for four years. On 5/10/08 I bought my first bass guitar that I am currently learning to play. This is a blog where I will post videos of my playing and you can give me comments, critiques, and suggestions on my playing. Maybe other beginners can learn a thing or two as well.
Sorry for the obvious discomfort, I was extremely nervous. The purpose of this videos is to receive tips, advice, and critiques on my playing. I am trying very hard to improve.
I don't know why I'm chewing like it looks like I am...
Sorry for the bad editing.
You're quite brave! I applaud you for that, not a lot of new players would film themselves on upload it lol.
First off, before you start playing look at your environment so to speak. Do you have a chair that you can sit on so your posture is a little better? You don't have to have perfect posture to play, but you should really think of "where" exactly you play/practice. It affects how your arms and hands are placed, so be mindful of that.
Second, practice, practice, and more practice! Do you have any materials such as music sight reading books or even fingering exercises? Those help tremendously, and teach from the primary levels and up. It'll help you be a little more comfortable with the "feel" of the beat counts without the metronome. Eventually, the metronome should be a device to correct errors.
I'd really try going from the ground up, it's very difficult to learn on your own, but there is a wealth of materials out there.
