STEAMPUNK PENGUIN PROFESSOR
Steampunk Penguin Professor
He's a penguin. And a professor. And he's steampunk.
Currently, he's on an expedition to the arctic with his assistant.
Illustrate both. The assistant is totally open to whatever you make of it - but remember that it's the supporting character. He/She/It should not outshine our Prof. Penguin.
FOLLOW THE TOPIC.
POST YOUR FINAL IN THE FINAL BURNING THREAD.
SAVE YOUR FILES IN THE FOLLOWING FORMAT. Chow##_Nickname
PLACE THE IMAGE IN A FRAME WITH YOUR NAME/TOPIC
(you can add CA logo, etc).
SUNDAY, February 24th, 2008
The way the deadline works: if deadline is on a Sunday and your image is posted on that Sunday 23:59 your local time it's a good entry.
In fact - as long there is Sunday somewhere on the planet your entry is ok. I will make the poll sometimes Monday evening my time (GMT - 8 ) yet I'll have a look at the last entries.
POST YOUR FINALS IN THE FINAL BURNING THREAD!
Remember to include your nickname in the filename.
About quality - as general rule: if your shapes and values are not decent - you are out. Watch proportions, perspective etc. we need perfectly readable shapes and coherent, consistent values.
BE PROFESSIONAL - only finished and good quality entries will be taken to the poll. Oregano and Daestwen (yay!) will make the selection.

The deuce you say!
The investigative potential is simply mind-boggling in its enormity. This warrants further extensive study. With goggles.
Definitely goggles....*walks away muttering*
It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
lol Swan! i thought the exact same thing: "goggles"
ok im a n00b but by god im gonna step up and do it this time. please kick me off the forums if i fail to submit this CHOW!!
/runs to drawing board
....and tomorrow I leave on an expedition of my own for a zoo to draw animals from life. How ironic.
wow...cant resist this one...steampunk penguin proffessor...this is insane on 5 different levels!!!
ha very funnie one, dunno if I have the time probably not, school is a bitch >.<
what's a steampunk?
Batmans pinguin is my first thought.
Next WIP, turned it more into a penguin and put him on a diet.

I love this idea. The funny thing is two weeks ago I pulled all sorts of reference research for a different penguin project of mine, so I have reference already on hand and a good feel for drawing penguins. Hopefully I can pull this one together faster than I did my Industrial Design last week.
I hope this doesnt turn into a huge anime session.
SketchBook Chris Yoakum?
"... hidden away in his secret lair miles below the earth's surface, the Penguin Professor has toiled away at his projects at the expense of all else. The few who have seen him know a bed-ridden old man on life-support ... sporting faded tribal tattoos from a past life. His long nose and the patterns of his yakuza-esque tattoos have earned him the nickname which he bears...."
... er ... the tattoos will come with the color version if this ends up being my final... (heh heh)
Hey is it optional for it to be human or penguin? Can it be a penguin?
The character needs to be a penguin, as in an animal character.
Not a short fat human.

can it be a crazy guy in a penguin suit???
Blog: My Blog
I like these topics where there's animals who are the characters. KInda like Cedartuft the squirrel mage, best CHOW ever - in my opinion.
I'll see if I have time for this, it does sound intressting.
Well I had an idea, played around with it and BAM.. didn't turn out as planned
I may try to make a big one where you actually can see that the penguin on
the mech is a professor (with robes, googles and some weird professor's hat).
Pancakes are made of EGGS and eggs are pretty awesome.
I have been thinking of steampunk some time last week and it seems like every art communities are crazy about it now!
I kind of don't get it though, if he's a penguin then shouldn't he be a COW subject? Or COW doesn't allow anthropological creatures? I don't go to the COW forum too often, so I'm not familiar about what goes on there.
this topic is way interesting, however I will have to give it a miss, again.
COW deals with creature design. CHOW with characters. A character can be anything, animal, vegetable, or mineral - so long as there is a personality associated with it. (some other stuff too, but you get the idea)Or COW doesn't allow anthropological creatures? I don't go to the COW forum too often, so I'm not familiar about what goes on there.
i didnt even know what steampunk was until now... haha lets get it on...
im in! the topic is 2 crazy 2 pass up
CHECK ME OUT
& ILL RETURN THE FAVOR
AIM/AOL SCREENAME: ACRO IS ILL
The professor is young and sometimes people discount him for that reason, but with his extensive research on the cave bacteria of the arctic the others in the Academia forsteri group are finding it harder and harder.
Here's my WIP n.n.
Baby penguins are better.
Nice topic I have started playing around with ideas.
Let's see what happens
Quick doodle trying to get to grips with penguins, and of course steampunk...
Always strive for perfection. You will never achieve it, but will learn so much more in the striving.
