i just watched the movie the first time and damn i have to say that man is legend.. i was just watching!!! i have to watch it the second time to listen to his comments.
thats also my critic point.. the voice recording is sometimes hard to understand especially when the music is in the background.... would be nice if that would be a bit cleaner
and i would love to know the soundtrack which is playing in there..
dudes keep it up !!!!!!!!
I managed to download it finally, it was reaaaal slow...
is the sound horrible for anyone else?
the sound quality is really bad compared to the other videos
edit: yeah it is pretty much unwatchable for me atm, it seems to be in mono or something? seems like an awesome video though... any help?
Android is thounsands of lightyears away from many of us. He just keeps walking his way and let us to see his trail from time to time.
He´s like a fleeting star that inspire to many people to find their way trying to cach their own dreams when seeing him appearing bright in the night sky.
I just want to say thank you
all should be working now...please let massivedvd know if there are any other issues.
i can confirm it all works on my end.
Andrew is a really quiet talker through the whole video and a lot of times gets drowned out by the music, which is a real shame, because Android is so much fun to listen to, and the music was also really good.
The techiniques that I've learned from the demos and workshops aside, I think I gain even more from hearing everyone's personal philosophy behind what they are doing and how/why they create. I feel that gaining that kind of insight is invaluable to my personal growth as an artist and human.
Thanks to all parties involved.
the sound is bad for me to, but what the heck, its still awezome
for those looking at the 'part 1' in the title I suggest you still get both of andrew's vids. The first is more on the mechanics and the later is implementing of the skills
And I just watched it finnished as well.
Though the sound was a bit less then perfect, I found that most of the time it was quite clear. A short while into the second piece (skingraft) it got difficult to hear because the music was at a high pace and Android was coming out a bit weaker soundwise then otherwise, but beyond this it worked nicely.
For someone who doesn't have Painter X (I got IX,5) hw do I do without the patternbrush? Does it work in the same way (roughly) as the "define brushset" function of Photoshop?
edit: Unless it works exactly the same as the Patterns Brush in IX,5
Also, I'm looking forward to hearing alot more on Andrews thought on pattern sifting and random patterns in conjunction with painting using (more or less) flat brushes. The Breana painting examplifies perfectly how good he is at this, but it felt like he(you) just touched the subject briefly with the stuff about "I could say I'm painting Breana, but I'm NOT... it's really just a lot of shapes on there".
Also, I'm wondering about the layers in the Breana image that came with the download- You mentioned that you did colourcorrections and stuff with some layers, I would love to hear more about this as the layers come out as normal-set layers. There is no info coming out of the layers themselfes other then that if I hide them from top to bottom they show different steps of the painting session.
I doubt you painted each and every layer individually (of the ones in the file supplied) but rather that they are different steps in time.
There are quite some people out there that mentions colourcorrection using layers, but it would be interesting to hear YOUR thoughts on this.
Personally I suck at that as it just seem like it's overdone everytime I try it out...
Overall, I think this one beats the shapetheory download in quality and the only real issue with it is the need to improve the sound a bit for the next installment.
Looking forward to AndrewFineArt2, Colour theory and whatever else you guys have in stall for the future...
...man, I feel like I need to focus big time...just found out I'm older then Andrew... I was having a hard time fathoming the expertise allready, thinking he was one or two years older then me. Turns out it's the other way around...

so for the past two days i have been going through all of my old graphic design clip art files and greating brushes patterns and papers for painter .... wow thanks andrew. I suggest everyone goes through this process
Just finished the video, and WOW! Very inspiring. My only problem was with the sound, it was hard to hear sometimes and the background music at some points over powered Andrew, but not greatly. Hearing Andrew speak was such a great treat along with watching the magic at work. I was so hoping there could have been a small clip of the "performance", maybe next video? Or does that bring in certain legalities? On another note, that was some awesome music to match the awesome work, who did the music? Again, thanks Andrew for the awesome work, beautiful images, and great pick-up line (haha). Love and light -
So when will we get the "Manely-Man approach to Color" video. If we don't get it soon, I'm afraid...
its funny that people are saying i watched the video but who made the music ect.... the name of the person that made the video is metioned and the logo is also shown... i know the audio isnt that bad 'boreta'
Boreta, got it, sorry, after watching the movie through I guess I forgot he mentioned it at the beginning. Thanks -
I have to say I honestly didn't really have any problems with the sound. Might be because I was using earphones so I wouldn't wake anyone up while watching it around 3 am I s'pose.
Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed this video - even though these images were already in Andrew's last thread, it was great seeing how they were built up, so to speak. Seeing the whole process of how these paintings came about really opens your eyes to all the details and little intricacies you missed when first looking at the finished piece. And to top it all off we get a look inside of Andrews thought-process which, again, adds so much to the whole experience. It was immensely interesting to watch, listen to, and learn from this video - truly inspirational stuff. Can't wait for the next ones.
Massive thanks to Massive Black, and to Andrew and Aaron in particular. Cheers, lads.
Jake Kobrin - thank you Jake, It was great meeting you too, from your avatar i thought you might bite my face off, but you are s very nice guy who helped out my demos by asking lots of good questions
Cepro- thank you for your support
Zachro --- great ,I'm glad you found inspiration
kraal What a great question- I'm glad that this video has provoked so much thought, i can feel your enthusiasm.
, first off Pandora's Box was meant to be opened, it would have been a pretty boring myth if she kept it closed, what would be the lesson there.
Being an Artist is my calling, its not a job, its doesn't have to be competitive, at the end of the day if the actions i choose in my life can empower and motivate other artists around me than i have lived a day with purpose and i can sleep well. I strive to relinquish any attachment to my methods, its like clinging to smoke, i live in pursuit of the fire. Its my belief that by sharing information my fire burns stronger. That will lead to discoveries and push me even harder to innovate. Over the years i have observed this pattern as a "flow" i am in in , and these downloads are a new and powerful addition to it and I am excited to see that will come from it.
I may be including the painter patterns and brushes in future downloads, at the moment i want to encourage people to create their own first.
Flameseeker- Thank you for your interest I'm glad this video shed some clarity on the realm of digital manifesting. , as far as the fashion realms is concerned i have a few sites i would love to share with this community
http://www.skingraftdesigns.com/ these guys designed my wacom strap!!
http://www.ayyawear.com/ a clothing company in Bali i design for
http://www.fiveanddiamond.com/ this is a great store in Sf owned by a few close friends.
(c) - the video was made with the intention of multiple views, , the music was Boreta http://www.myspace.com/boreta
archipelago thank you for purchasing the video. We are learning as we go and i appreciate your patience, for the next vid we will pay closer attention to the sound quality. we are now finding a balance between music and voicover.
Jaku your very welcome Jaku, im going to put your compliment in my hear instead of my head.
Texahol Thanks for your in site, it was a decision to share a balance between technical instruction, philosophy and then letting the image speak for itself. i do feel its unimportant to communicate the basics of whats happening in Corel X and i think that the philosophy is something that will trancend the specific application and be beneficial for other realms of art.
Wetterschneider thanks , im a mac guy , good to know
squidmonk3j audio will be fixed in future videos
Ashrumm i am also discovering that the Process of the digital medium is as valuable , or even more valuable than the finished piece
Colrouphobic Thank you so much, i do highly recommend that you use painter X, its is significantly better program than 9.5 , 9,5 does have the "pattern chalk tool" and it works very much the same, it will perform better in X.
im glad you like some of my "shape theory" there plenty more where that came from
as far as the psd, i is more of a step by step than an actual working file. i use layers but i flatten constantly because i am always creating new layers over and over, i may go through i few hundred layers in one painting, so i usually flatten once it reaches about 15 .
as far as color correction ,its more of a feeling thing, i play around with the values until it "feels" good
Earendil hehe, yep the "hell yes! , Fuck No!" philosophy laid out in the vid can be applied to all facets of life and love.
kraal viva Clip Art!!!
Mr. Visions So happy that you enjoyed it, i often have people like you in mind when i make a recording like this. the music was my friend Boreta, he rocked the space needle in Seattle.
keep it tuned here for future vide with video footage of the performances
Jorre Wampers your very welcome, thanks to everyone for the positive feedback,
Arron , Jonah , Jason and i are learning as we do this , so all of your feedback and comments are extremely valuable as we plot out future courses out. We realize that it doesn't take a whole lot of Internet wizardry to make files and movies magically appear on your hard drive, and i really want to thank everyone who makes the choice to support us by purchasing these vids.
the more support we receive the more information we will be able to share with you in the future.
i already have two more full downloads recorded and we will be editing them and getting them up when they are finished.
and remember the greatest way that you can express your gratitude is by taking the information and making more art with it. !!
The Audioproblems a lot of you guys mentioned can be "repaired" by using a better / newer Quicktime Codec. Try to update ... I first watched the Video on my Lap and it got some old QT Version installed. I just thought ... oh my gosh, whats up with that crappy noisy Sound and the ever changing volume - but it is doin' fine on my working Computer.
I have to critique the Music ( which is great stuff ) at parts where Andrew is talking ... he talks and talks and talks and I didnt understand a word cause of the music been so "loud". U guys have to fade down earlier, not just 2 min. after he began
anyway ... great Stuff Android, once again a quality Video.
I find your personal take on artwork inspiring. I think the majority of that inspiration is that your art stands apart in pretty much every way, from those equally talented folks.
Both hearing your philosophies in the past, and experiencing your helpful, righteous persona, and willingness to spread the same vibe, last week has firmly cemented you a position on, The Good Ones list. A personal list of mine of people who inspire or motivate me.
Here is an homage/exercise to your style with things i watched from your demos and I am trying to spin in my own direction as well.
2nd image:A shot of you jammin with GM in the Space Needle.
PS the 'Vibe Sucker' demo had me in stitches....
Cheers, Thanks, Respect!

ManaBurn thanks for the information, Photoshop has a really robust painting engine and you can get some amazing variations with spacing angle jitter etc,
but there is nothing in photoshop that mimics the distortion and "glitchness" of painters pattern chalk brush.
the pattern brush in painter takes into account, the angle and tilt of the wacom pen, and distorts the pattern accordingly, this is a fundamentally different application that what photoshop is capable of .
Andrew dude. everytime i see you doing your thing (unfortunately only on video) i get goosebumps man. you individual style is totally something out of this world man! very unique. i hope to see more of you stuff around here, it's always a pleasure hearing you thoughts on things. If youre every on the road in The Netherlands let me know man, i would love to see you work in real life one day and enjoy the pleasure of you company over a nice reefer (if you smoke), a beer or what ever man.
