Its been a while since i've done any concept for fun, and this happy little accident popped its head out after about 3hrs. its part marker overlays, part photo overlays and some quick painting in photoshop. I could use some honest crits. Thanks
you should clean up your silhouettes. I can't tell what's going on in the image. You should decide what everything is before you put in random shapes. The bat is too close to the center of the image. There's WAY too much black, and it took me forty looks to find out there were people in the image. Is there a reason you decided to make the main figures so small and hidden in the shadows? I'd suggest giving it another try with some preliminary brainstorming.
I agree...its great that your experimenting mixing some things, but there are some of the above mentioned fundamental problems that could make it a stronger image. Right now there is a concentrated focal point on the bright light and contrasting bats...but then there is also the hugely saturated blue off in the dark to the left. If your trying to tell a story with the figures on the bottom, try and think how to better sell their actions in your composition.
So you've done this one...I'd suggest making a simple list of things to keep in mind for your next one...then do some thumbnails (on any subject matter, or keep going with your current style and theme) and post them here. Perhaps we can look at your ideas, and inspire you to flesh one out?
