ahh!! that is just the cutest little chub of a creature ive ever seen.
Love the heart shape bellybutton, disturbingly cute!
I get so happy when I find gems
on the beach of CA forums.
Thanks for inspiring me yet another
day of my life to draw harder and
achieve what thought impossible by me.
Keep up the arts, I'll be back.
I am going to chime in with a big "holy poo you are fantastic"
wonderful wonderful work, can't wait to see more.
I just can't get over the odd creepy "wetness" of some of these portraits and characters, it adds such a unique and interesting touch.
fantastic - I particularly LOVE that bird creature!
Thank you so much for the kind words everyone!
S.M: Wow, I don't really know what to say! Well I'd say a lot of practice certainly helps. I used to paint something almost every single day and that definitely helped me in a crazy lot of ways. Sadly work doesn't not allow me the privilege of that anymore. However, I work as a prelighter/texturepainter so at work I'm constantly training myself to dig deeper into observing and replicating details (and I don't mean like fine wrinkle/pore details, also the finer nuances of the form and such) and while I'm not there yet, it's a fun trip! Many many thanks!
MikePoretti:Man, I'm crumbling under the pressure now hehe. Thanks! About color, I'd suggest http://huevaluechroma.com/ I haven't been through all of it (it's so extensive!) but it is fantastic learning material.
28chelseaslater: Hahah, thanks! I'm glad I found someone else besides me who thought it was cute Everyone else just thinks it's creepy, that makes the poor lil thing so sad
squidmonk3j:Thanks a bunch!
Quinn Simoes:Hahah I'm girly like that. Oddly people seem to have extreme reactions to that silly bellybutton, they either loove it or think it is super stupid
MattGamer:Thank you so much!
Maidith:Thank you! This isn't much of an update, but...oh well
omgitsduane: Hehehe, yay!
Beavotron:Thanks!! I think I need to start easing out of the wetness a bit, haha.
Chupacabra: Seriously, the feeling is soooo mutual! I lovelove your work and I'm super thrilled that you've come back to my humble little sketchbook. Thanks!
Intervain: Hi! I know you from CGTalk(OFDWs)! You have serious modeling skills!( I stalk your portfolio quite a bit, haha) Thanks!
Ok this is a bit of a blah update I guess but I haven't posted in for so long and I started feeling guilty. Heh.
Anyway, I finally kicked myself into starting something for DEEP(have you seen the entries so far? So amazing!). Started doodling so I can come up with ideas. I have lots of pencil doodles too, will scan them in soon!
Now that I posted the blah sketches I hope I'm sufficiently embarrassed to paint something nice quick and update.haha.
I'm so glad to know that you want to participate and do some DEEP designs. I'm a fan of your art and coloring technique, so yeah, go for it! Yeeehaaah!
Icey: Heheh, thanks! I hope you like this update
luness:Thank you so much! I'm a big fan of your designs and your CHOW entry is totally kickass!
Havoc-DM: Thank you!
kelly x:Thanks! I'm glad you like him
Here's my DEEP entry. My first CHOW yay!. I wish I had the time to color all. Serves me right for starting 2 days before the deadline
The Enoi are a highly evolved race of spiritual and peace loving beings that have formed a eusocial society deep in the underwater trenches of the planet En. The Queen-Mother rules the Enoi Kingdom and the Shaman-King acts as the royal consort. The Queen-Mother reproduces asexually by laying batches of eggs in her womb which are then infused with the life-force that binds all Enoi together, harnessed by the Shaman-King, in a sacred ritual. Enoi young are born hermaphrodites, revealed by the purple coloring of their life-force aura, and upon reaching adolescence, as they mature into a male or female, the color of their life-force changes accordingly to red or blue. Besides the color of their life-force there is very little physiological difference between the males and the females, except that the women have longer tendrils on their heads, and the males tend to be heavier set which can be seen best in the structure of the cranium. The spiritual development of the Enoi is parallel to the physical development and is marked by the opening of the second eye at adolescence.
Very inspirational thread ma'lady , very inspirational indeed , I notice you have an unusual fetish for details quite like me..(usually not leaving it for the last , rather trying to get details down compulsively)
But i felt the greatest downfall was , inability to complete the piece as a whole later on..was wondering if you had such issues?
Cheers damien from omen.
Awesome as always!

Malakai SinClair: Thank you! I'm kinda bummed that I couldn't do enough for the CHOW though,(workworkwork!) but I'm happy at least I got -something- done
Ketka:Thank you so much! A huge compliment coming from you
Mischeviouslittleelf:Thank you! Yea that glowy bit was my fav too, possibly more than the actual creature design haha.
BohemianChaos:Aww thank you! Always appreciate your comments!
dhilipsomesh:Thank you so much!
damienflux:Yea I guess I have a bit of an OCD when it comes to details. I try to fight it, I do Yu should see the number of the half abandoned projects I have..
Quick_Sketch:Thank you very much. I don't do too many landscapes (developed a dislike thanks to an extremely annoying teacher in art school ) but I really want to practice them more now. Any helpful reference pages would be highly appreciated! I think it will be a good place to try out my gazillion brushes too.
Marjolein: Thank you dearie!
robinchyo:Yea have to stop going spec-crazy I guess Thanks!
Chupacabra: Awww NOES! No doing that ever! (unless you get to work in a spiffier place where they make you do more awesome art anyway) Thank you so much for dropping in my sketchbook, it's an absolute honor.
kelly x: Thank you so much! I did try to portray those very things, whee! Yep, she's the Queen
So something superblah happened to be today. I was so so so excited about The Dark Knight coming to this tiny little corner in the world that I live in that I went ahead and booked tickets for Sunday thinking that I did them for Saturday. So we realized only after we got into the hall and were about to sit down. Needless to say my friends were pissed and I was even more so .The friggin place is an hour's drive away and I feel horrible for making my friend drive all the way for nothing
Ok...so here's a piece inspired by the awesomely awesome awesomeness of the Joker. It's uh..a sort of a study for another piece ,maybe. Sorry about the boring subject matter , lighting and composition. I haven't painted for weeks now and I needed familiar ground to start off with. No refs used, which might be one of the problems with this piece. Then again, I've painted this angle and lighting 53635647674676 times by now, hah.
Your works are great, specially your rendering.
I would love to know how you achieve that subsurface-scattering look on your paintings, pretty amazing effect.
Really lovely sketchbook
wow what i cant believe i missed this sketchbook i really hope that i can learn something about skin tones through your sketchbook..it's really so amazing.
