It's great to be back here, after a long break from sculpting I have finally come back to it after 6 months. I've been spending time writing and drawing in my sketchbook, which I must say I'm proud of myself for actually finishing one for a change! My sketchbook is also the source for where my imagination is put onto paper and where the concepts for sculptures are made.
One such project I have had in mind for a long time is that of a Werewolf. There will be four stages of transmutation, which means there will be four different sculptures altogether. It would make sense for me to start off with a human being changing into a werewolf, but I find it easier to work backwards in this case.. (maybe i'm just not right in the head?!!)
Much like my last project, I am documenting the whole process as I hope this will be an educational process for those who are interested in getting into sculpture, or just generally interesting! I'll try make it as interesting as possible and I hope it won't suck!
On that note, here it is:
As you can see, there are many ideas.. I really enjoy knocking out the ideas.. because I never quite know which direction it's going to take me.
The Werewolf Sculpture: Part One
woooo welcome back man! Another round of chaos begins!
Yay Kenshiro is back!!! Welcome back buddy. I need to join you on the come back trail. Hope al is well and your piece looks fabulous as usual!
Siddiq aka Maddmaestro
finally welcome back weve been nedding some new stuff from you looking amazing so far
Simply amazing stuff as usual. You should know that you are one of the main reasons to me starting sculpting! thank you for sharing!
I've got to second hugeanticpeanut. You, Mr KennyTheWonderstarOfSculpturing :-), was the reason I realised what I can create with a bit of time, imagination, sweat and tears.
Your extremely documented processes are worth more in some cases than a £300 sculpting course.
I only hope that my creations can stand as proudly as yours.
Maddmaestro: Go on, get yourself inspired again! :-) At the end of the day your are your only obstacle and I've been my own obstacle for toooo long.
So, where will your imagination take you today?...
increible ! I can't wait to see this beauty finished, wow.
Ew, it looks like you ate a brick of clay and took a dump! Just kidding! It is looking awesome and can't wait to see how it turns out. Also, I'm really curious about what kind of paper you used to make your drawings on? I really love the aged look of the paper.
And, welcome back Kenny!
I think 'thank you' are just two smaller words to use my friend. Your praise is undeserved and I wish i had something to say that proved how grateful I am.. and to everyone else in here. it means a great deal to me that I have managed to inspire and it's something I didn't think I could do. When documenting the sculpturing process I was worried that it wasn't documented well enough, but it seems that I must've done something right after all.
Thank you my friend :-)
LOL you crazy dude! And regarding the paper, it's actually just paper covered in a watercolour wash.. yeah I stained 250 pages of my sketchbook with a yellow ochre (and some pages were a brown-ish colour) using a house decorating brush. Then I used a hair dryer to dry it all! Looks pretty neat when it's all dry.. like an old parchment effect :-) Not one tea bag was used! Thank you for your suport and kind wrds my friend :-)
Very creative and interesting drawing ideas.
Sculpt is coming along well, too. Very dramatic and powerful anatomy.
Ah, it's been too long since we had a D-Sorcerer original design appear on this thread. Every so often I stop and wonder what you've been up to . I can see from the level of conceptualizing you've been through that following the process on this piece will be worth every second spent away from the worktable.
You do have a rare and wondrous vision when it comes to exploring fantastic realms and the creatures that dwell there. I hope your time away from the forum was relaxing and that you've come back ready to get into the fray.
... a cry went up into the shuddering air, and faded to a shrill wailing, passing with the wind, a voice bodiless and thin that died, and was swallowed up, and was never heard again in that age of this world.
Great to see you back again,This new piece is feckin awesome,It great to be able to see your ideas evolve.I love the design, them muscles are very cool. cant wait to see more.
Appreciate you taking the time to post,
Great stuff as always.
I always always always look forward to hearing your thoughts and I absolutely enjoy reading whatever it is you say And yes I've been on a real mission getting it right on paper first before i even attempt to do anything in clay. Might I add that I have been reading into the hostory of the werewolf and have been watching some truly excellent werewolf movies to the downright terrible and unwatchable! I've always been a werewolf fan but more so now I think after all the homework I've been doing on these amazing shape shifters.
And yes, thank you KU.. it's been nice drawing lots and conceptualising more ideas other than scary creatures! I've now completed my sketchbook which has taken me a while to do but I got there in the end. I'd like to do something a lot more human next, and then something scary again!
As always my friend, you're a great supporter and you always take such interest whatever I do. Thank you my friend, 'you are the man.'
It's sure good to be back :-)
Ah thank you for your warm welcome dude :-) Yeah it is great to be back in here and to show something again! I'm really happy that you like the design, I hope that I manage to do a good job on this.. it's all going good so far, i'm pretty confident about it! And the muscles are very challenging but absolute fun! Many thanks again my friend
Thank you for your warm welcome back and for your more tan kind words my friend :-) Yeah, it's been about half a year hasn't it? Something like that! And thank you mate, yeah the muscle work isn't even finished yet, still a bit more to do but not too much!
