Is it like a convention, where there are tracks of lessons and we can choose which to take?

this show has 3 categories.

1. spoken presentations/demonstrations with experts in each area covered
2. hands on instruction (when the instructors are working directly with the students.
3. pure demonstration (this will be a special portion of the event as there will be more artists simultaneously demonstrating where you can see them all working, than ever before.)

It is a mixture of structure and creative chaos. It is inspiration and motivation. It is focused on foundations but has all the info needed for artists of all levels to take away more than they hoped to.

The rest is a surprise.

So the NAME of the event is REVELATIONS: The North American Art and Design Workshop? Or is Revelations just for the revealing phase...

I think that would be a safe assumption due to the various threads referring to the workshop as such.

This sounds like an amazing experience, not just a place to learn new techniques , but an opportunity to pick brains develop and be influenced directly by some amazing artists. Whats really superb is that there are so many different styles, ideas and approaches represented, it really gives the student a chance to sort of cherry pick what it is that they are inspired by in each artist, its this a la cart approach that really helps to define an individuals personal voice, which can sometimes be overwhelmed when a student studies with only one instructor. You ConceptArt creators are some smart bastards. Cheers!

that's what the airplane is for...we have plenty of younger students at the events and seattle has some of the best public transportation in the country. but alas...there is always next year or the year after. Though a lineup like this will probably never happen again, considering it never happened before either.

Yeah, that is part of the point. People will have the opportunity to make decisions about who they want influencing their work, which is rarely the option at work or in school. That being said, sometimes it is those who you least expect who provide the breakthrough that you never saw coming. I can say, that due to the structure of the event, it will be possible to at least peek at and see all the instructors working so you can make that decision.

We have three tracks and two categories currently. The categories are Art and Design.

Spoken Demonstration/Presentation - For example, Lorne Lanning is doing a wonderful talk on creativity. Considering he has led perhaps one of the most creative companies in the industry for the past decade, it should be a good one). Coro, Dan Milligan, Android, Marko, and many others will be speaking, of course. The spoken program will be announced in a couple weeks. Stay tuned. A few of these talks will be lecture based, but all will have plenty of digital imagery or demonstrations happening to keep things exciting. Those who learn by being told and shown will have the opportunity to do so.

Pure Demonstration - Participants will watch the pros as they are focused purely on the work. Ask occasional questions...but the point of this is to let the instructors focus on what they do best...create. It will be up to the students to analyze and deconstruct the methods for some of these demonstrations (Noxizmad, for example who says more with his brush than any words he could say, ever would). Those who learn best by watching, will be able to take advantage of this. Given the intelligence of the attendees from the industry and the student base around here, I expect everyone will get something great out of this.

Hands on instruction. Students will have the option to participate in this portion of the program and recieve hands on assistance from the top professionals in each area of study. We are doing a head drawing class, for example. The instructors will be of both traditional and digital background, so those working on laptops or in sketchbooks will get to have the big guns helping them hit the targets. Personally, I always learned best in this way, which is why we are including this portion for the event. We are accommodating all 3 ways people learn art and design. Seeing, hearing, and doing...

This is going to be our most organized event to date but even the organization is structured to allow for the creative chaos that makes these events special. How things are structured is a surprise. It is a new and highly evolved approach, that much I can say. It is going to be friggen intense.

Jason

no clue, he used to post on another community i'm apart of based on Game modification and total conversions. I don't see him there anymore either

Anyway Jason, looking forward to meeting you and the others at MB. Thats one hell of a line up. Seriously want to try to make this one, but GDC is the following month and I might have to be there as well with the guys from work. Anyway I'll have to see, this one looks as if it shouldn't be missed

gdc??? no offense to gdc, as its the best business event in the states, but seriously, on an artistic level, it is a void that is months away. That is the whole purpose of our event...the industry needs a big wakeup call creatively. We are here to help shake em all outta bed...and that includes me.

TIME TO GET UP!!!! ...at least thats what my lil sis used to say!

There currently is the option to pay at the door, however, that is only because we have not sold out yet. Given the quality of instructor list, and the limited space, I imagine it will be sold out around xmas.

I was thinking about going, but my boyfriend planned a surprise vacation those days (meaning I know when but not where we are going)
So I guess there's always a next time.. And anyways it will be WAY cheaper to go to a european one for me.

You guys seem to get every workshop better than the one before..
Awesome!
I'll be checking the threads here for pictures, videos, notes, everything! ^^

Love
Marleen.
