I've seen some of these in earlier posts but they still look good. I must say that the 'New Bouncer' looks very cool and so do those knives...Nice touch there. His toes are bothering me, but that's nit-picking. Junk City is very strong, a new style for you if I may be so bold...

I mostly paint in OC1, PS 5/CS2/CS3 and Painter 7/X
For 3d i work with 3dsmax 3/6/9 (for modelling), Mudbox and zbrush for details and Deeppaint, Texture weapons or bodypaint for textures. Depends on what my job is, highpoly or ingame lowpoly models or photography BG.

i love studio gibli productions a lot as i ove anime in general a lot, i just dont get to paint in that style so often as there is not to much demand from clients.
Here now i posted mostly work i did this year. However it is only about 2% of the work i did in the last 8 months, sadly cant show anything here....
As for the styles i try to stay flexible as clients often have weird requests...

joking aside, i really like the new bouncer, the lady and the farting creature.
your work is always full of skill and control.. its sometimes lacks the spark, the IT thing to make it something more unique. hard to put in words.
other than that:
how much photoref do you use?
hows the life outside of germany?
Can't agree about the spark thing as for everyone the IT is different.
You will agree that you don't like all the most popular movies, songs and pictures but for some others they are IT. Also note that doing your job u do what client wants you to do.
That being said of course a respect everyones taste and understand that i could never please everyone equally.
I use as much Photo ref as needed to get what i want, to get a certain level of realist in lighting and shadow u simply need the ref. I also use ref to get the feel of materials, to see how objects look like and make use of real models who stay for me when needed. As i also work as a photographer i have more or less unlimited access on reference.
Life outside germany is great, life was good to me and i am very happy that i came here. Food is super and people in general are very nice and friendly. It is always warm and the city never sleeps.

I render in Max using any renderer available to match the quality/rendering time i need. All models done in 3ds max, for details i use mudbox or zbrush, this programs are only good for details.
I love the aztec floating city. But I think you should have painted the clouds. but thats just me. good stuff tho.
The reason why i didn't paint them is because they are not significant as they are not a part of the concept but simply a part of the setting the concept takes place in. Painting them would result in unpayed overtime. and time is money for a concept artist.
It would look different if the assignment were a illustration job.

By the way, how much time you spent over a complete illustration? From the youtube video, it seems like you can complete one awesome painting within 2 hours? I assumed it was fast forward playback.

Sawasdee krap! Guys say krap at the end, girls ka. Krap/ka can not be translated, it indicates politeness. and in certain cases can be used as yes.
I probably will do more vids when i have more time, right now i am to busy with work and life but it was worth the time as i got about a million hits on the psp vid.
the vids are fast forward of course.
Cant tell you how many time an illu takes, it really depends on what i paint. realistic style takes longer, cartoonish images rather quick. Resolution is another factor and of course the level of detail and the complexity of the background.
Some of the paintings are actually 3d or based on 3d models i made.
The robots and the bouncer are 3d for example.
