Whee, much better at organic than mech. Just a sketch for now - perhaps more time tomorrow to refine, or try for something more mechanical.

i would have liked to do something more attractive but i went with something basic. In the end I went with somewhat of a fairy tale. a girl gets turned into a catapillar type creature.

Daveneale: how much time did U spend on this one? It looks nice and clean, i like the expression on her face!

Goran: your drawing has that lonely feeling, can't see her glowing yellow eyes though

Some really nice ones you guys have done already, thumbs up.

Here's mine. My Tablet is now dead and buried, so I couldn't really color this one, and everything I did the mouse just pissed me off.

Cheers

Franque...cheers probably about an hour(I was doing this in between a painting I was doing...so this was done during acrylic drying time)....I was trying for stoke economy on this one...I usually keep adding brush strokes till the looseness gets spoiled.

Anthis...thanks

Astonishing work! I'm blown away by how quick everyone posted.. it actually took me a while to figure out what to do for this one. I played around with it for a while and got this monstrosity.

I gave it another go and I got this:

Props to sunny & daveneale, you both nailed this one!

Ok, I'm gonna write a critique. Take what I say with a pinch of salt, I am not a professional and can only say what I like or how I perceive things from an amatuer's point of view.

Kuda001: I like the design a lot. This is a great example of the bionic/organic fusion. The lighting around the head is especially cool. The perspective on the stomach segments is a little off - it is twisting downwards at the right.

professorx00: Keep going, dont stop now. I can't really comment until you show us your goods

zyphrus: Nice feel and expressiveness with the hands. You could work a lot of character out of this design (I am picturing a haughty queen style right now) The eyes are out of perspective though, need to lift the one on the left of the pic (her right).

Sunny: Nice use of colour, slick and charismatic. I wouldn't have spotted the fairy without an explanation though, and the face looks more like it is grimacing then smiling.

Normal: I have no idea what you set out to achieve, so I won't be able to make a valid comment.

The.Mr.Simon: Hi, nice first entry. I like the colours and I like the design. Very smooth. Yes, the face has let you down a bit, I'd like to see a nice expressive smile. I am also not sold on the depth of the image, it seems a touch flat.

Tommoy: Great design, very imaginative. You had a good idea and you captured it well. I like how you work with metal too. The first four legs dont sit too well with me though, they seem to be a bit askew.

Aszantu: Another new and imaginative idea. Quite a few technical flaws though. The rear hand is draped in a way that stops the roundness and depth of the body from being felt. Also the reflection makes the tail section appear to be floating. You have the nice yellow eyes, but no smile.

Zone: Slick and well done. Colours, design, perspective are all really nice. For the person who asked if you are a pro I would recommend to check out your other work, it's really top stuff. Two minor crits - one is that I am not sold on her rear shoulder, the musculature seems awkward and the angle conflicts too much with the last set of legs to sit right with me. Also, I would love to see the character closer up so I can admire the design more

tmyohlaing: Great feel, great flow, great fun. I like the lighting as well, it adds some extra oomph to the pic. Two minor points - the body doesn't look centipedal/organi-mech. Also, the focus is more on the creatures buttocks then anything else - I think it should have more focus on the face.

Goran: Your work is always stunning. This is no exception. The shading, toning, hue and design are things that make wannabes like myself feel all inspired. Now that has been said, we can't see a smile or yellow eyes. Her right shoulder seems oddly lifted, and the merging of the carapace into the human flesh in the middle of her back looks mildly disjointed.

Hamsta: I like the spiral and the use of shading to draw the eye in to the focal point. A solid, fun design as usual. The hood seems to have been slapped on a bit randomly, and the legs fade out too quickly.

daveneale: I like it. Fun, slick, flowing. Nice and professional. However, the expression isn't as clear as I would like - just by the facials she could be yawning or gasping in shock.

Franque: A nice little pic. I'd love to see it coloured. The top ridge on the abdomen is a little off. The one on the right of the picture isn't following the curve of the body, and makes it look a little flat. Also the face is holding you back. Everything else is drawn and shaded nicely and it feels like you skimped on the most important part. (BTW I would love a wacom too, just got a cheap graphics tablet because I cant afford a wacom. Even the cheap one is soo much fun.)

Jutami: I always like your designs. You have a nice feel for the cyborg biotech style. This one is again a nice design, but the anatomy is a bit off. It is like the shoulders and head are drawn from one angle, and the breasts/chest and abdomen from another. The random lock of hair in front of the face is offputting as well, and the lines in the ribcage dont seem right.

ravenslayer: the use of light is intriguing. It makes the viewer interested in what the character is looking at. I am not sure about the positioning of the legs, the absence of an arm and the character looks more sad then smiling.

anthis: possibly the most "insecty" feel of them all so far. It's interesting, because the face looks so very friendly, and the body looks so creepy-crawly. The lighting isn't quite working, i would love to see it in it's original setting.

ashton: I know I dont fully understand your style. I am not enough of an art historian to place it. So I can only assume you are doing it right. So please forgive me if I crit something that is a deliberate stylistic thing. Firslty, I enjoy your design. I like the angling and perspective. The creature seems to loom in a really menacing way. Some items of the perspective seem to be askew, the female face and the insect face dont match up. Also the shadow on the ground seems to be too hard for the lighting.

CIR: what I can see so far is nice. Keep going and show us more. Watch the arm/hand going behind her though. It would be able to fit there if it was a woman standing up, there is no room for it there with a centipedal extending horizontally out from her.

Rush_23: you made my eyes bleed.

SGR: Lovely stuff. I think your first effort is going to give me nightmares though. Onto the second pic, it's very nice indeed. Lovely work where I can just about feel the different materials in the scene. The shading and brushwork are of an excellent standard and you are obviously quite skilled. Two things - I would like to have seen the whole image without any bits cut off. Also the join between the female body and the centipedal one is too abrupt, with the shading on her hip just going into a black smudge.

Yeah, the anatomy went to hell. I was a bit unfocused because of the damn tablet, I'm still a bit pissed. Need to figure out 600€ from somewhere quick.
Thanks for the crit.

Cheers
