I'm a little surprised that I got first post but that's ok!

As for your digital stuff, i'd say you were off to a really nice start! You already seem to know the basic of porportions and how to draw a face. I would suggest maybe working on the smoothness of your shading using the tablet. I'm terrible with the tablet so I couldn't suggest anything but it sounds like a good idea. I think it would make things look a lot more finished, even if they're not.

You pencil drawings are coming along nicely. I have a problem with some of the noses in a few of them. One of them seems like it is intentionally going for an manga style and thats fine. Maybe do some studys of noses and also some of eyes. There are more lines around the eye then you may realize.

Great start. I look forward to some of your updates!

Hey Err0rz, welcome ot CA, Your off to a really good start thus far. Nice faces, some problems I'm seeing are on a few of your drawing your noses are a bit small for the size of the face. Good structure though. I would suggest doing some structure head studies to strengthen your understanding of head drawing. As for painter, I'm new to it myself and it can feel daunting at times, but now that I've been playing around with it and learning the functions, I think I'm starting to get comfortable with the interface at least. I still have to do a lot of experienmenting with techniques and brushes, to see what works best for me. Just keep doing what your doing. Read the Painter forum section of this site, you can learn about training tutorials that are out there on the market, solutions to problems you might be having that someone else has solved. I would suggest to use bigger strokes when painting. Do studies of artist you like, Master studies, speed paintings. Skies the limit with digital software. Remember to keep having fun with it also. I'm in the same boat as you are when it comes to learning painter, so your not alone.

Welcome, and make yourself at home,
Cheers

thanks for the recommendations. and for the nose parts i think it might be because asians have smaller noses haha. and same question, do you have any books/sites to recommend for facial studies etc?

yea i'll check out the tutorials on painter. hoping i can improve with each new painting i do. and yea, with the undo function, the sky is the limit with digital software lol
