Trouble setting up Image planes in Maya

Hello. Just started working on a car in Maya and am having a bit of trouble with setting up my image planes for the model. Ive done it a million times before with no trouble but for some reason this time is different. I positioned the top view of the car, then the side view and finally the front view. As soon as I finish with that, Maya tells me that it needs to substitute the view of my 1st image plane, the top view of the car, with my second image plane, the front view of the car. I can still see all the planes in the perspective view. After trying for hours to fix the problem I finally gave up and started the model, but it's annoying the heck out of me. I want to find out how to fix this incase it happens again. Any help is appreciated.

did you setup a maya project, and store the images in "sourceimages" or some other directory? What maya version were you using? What image file format?
This may help to figure out what happened.

Ok. It's a Maya project I'm doing. The images are saved in my My Pictures folder. They are Bmp files. I'm using Maya 6. Thanks for the help!

Ok. For days I have been stuck on this problem. I can't figure it out. I create 3 image planes, a top, a front and a side. I load the images of the car into each plane. I go to rotate the top image plane 90 degrees on the Y axis and I get the message, "Warning: Could not find an appropriate startup camera: top. A substitute will be used.". It the changes my top view to my front view. So I basically have 2 front views, a side and a perspective view. Like I said, I already started the model but It's making it very difficult. Any idea what I'm doing wrong please?
