Master Bedroom (3D) Arch

Hello to all. I am a member of www.cgtalk.com and I can see that this forum is not strong in cg art but has a diverse community. I would like to share with you all this WIP of mine. It is modeled in Alias Maya and rendered in Mental ray tell me what you think!

The softened light from the window is fantastic, and I love the flooring. Maybe just a "smidge" and I mean a "smidge" much on the bumpmapping, IMHO.

Areas to look at: liven up the plant with some imperfections and texturing. Take a look at the blanket to see if you can loosen it up a bit.

Overall, this is FAN-TAS-TIC.

Take my advice or not, and it's still a great render.

PS - I wonder about the logic of the window right next to the sliding doors, and then mirrors right between the two, architecturally speaking.

YOU WILL OBEY ME: YOU WILL POST MORE: YOU ARE POWERLESS TO RESIST MY SUBLIMINAL POWERS: OOOOOH....

The noise on the walls is a little weird. If it's supposed to be texture smooth it out a little.

There is some good work here, how long have you been doing Vis-work for?

I have a couple of comments:
Although it looks fine at a distance, when viewed up-close and at a low angle the bump-map on the floor is much too strong.

The variation between interior and exterior light sources is too balanced, if the camera is setup for an interior exposure then the outside portions of the scene should be slightly over-exposed or visa-versa. It needn’t be strong but at the moment it looks a little too perfect.

The furniture in the low-down view almost looks like it is floating but it might just be a trick of the lighting setup.

I am finding the lamp and chairs really obtrusive in the scene, it is not so bad in the earlier versions but now they dominate the camera and throw the composition off. The detail of them doesn’t match up to the quality of the rest of the scene; I think that they need some tweaking.

Good progress however I hope to see how the final version comes together.

There are a selection of photoshop filters that can be used to clean up the noise post render.

Have you looked at the Maxwell plugin for Maya if you are doing a lot of vis-work.

-Andrew

Thank you for the reply. I will look into your comments. I'm not sure when im going to sit down and give this scene the final clean up but its drawing near. The noise on the wall are from a texture. I'm guessing the contrast is too much. That can be adjusted. Don't remember if I posted that I am using Maya. Feel free to check out my website www.peterpanton.com
