Girl with twin swords... step by step

This started as a doodle and progressed into a final colored painting. Because I didn't take the time to sketch it out perfectly at first there are a number of things wrong with this... perspective and proportions etc. However since I haven't posted anything here in so long I thought I'd put up a step by step.

Initial pencil sketch

Scanned into photoshop and a few areas tweaked (in retrospect I should have spent more time on this step)

Initial palette choices, color blocking, and line drawing

Starting to block in colors and build up volume

More volume building, and blending of colors

some detail work on the face, hair, and applied some level corrections

And the final treatment...

yup, I agree with what everyone said, great paint job, but some proportion issues. It's interesting to see how the face changed from sketch to finish, I do like the finished face better.

hehehehe... I knew you guys would point out that eye! I didn't notice it until the end of my paint job, and figured there were so many other things wrong with this (like the hand and arms and legs) that I didn't feel like fixing it. Serves me right for painting up a crappy sketch without thinking bout it first.

The strange thing is in the original sketch, her right eye is too big, but in the final painting her left eye is too big. whatever

I guess the painting took on a mind of it's own, and I was too lazy to reel it in

Yes! Maybe you passed too fast to the colour step before working a bit more over the rough. I find the colours are very good anyway.
