Exclamation 1000

Portrait number 1000

Well what can I say... even as I type this message out it seems surreal to me, it’s been over 2 years 8 months and 26 days ago since I embarked on this journey. I never could have imagined that it would have taken me this far, and I if I didn’t have the memory of spending so many nights alone in front of the mirror I would not believe it myself.
I can look back at the very first portrait I posted and part of me can re-live and feel that moment, I can remember what my life was like then, the thoughts and emotion running through my body and my mind as I held the pencil in my hand, I can almost imagine it like it was yesterday, but at the same time that person I was feels like a total stranger to the face that stares at me in the mirror today.
Time is such a mystery; I value it over all things but it remains a complete illusion. Change is real; these portraits have documented the changes in my face and my life.

I appreciate this community’s support and encouragement over the years, without it I would not be where I am today,
Thank you-

the 1000 portrait poster is coming soon.....

Amazing, man.
I want to let you know how much this Forum/Website/Organisation means to me. A lot. That's how much.

Oh yeah... and that is an AWESOME piece!

Amazing!! I have been following these your work since the early numbers (maybe around 40 or so) and just have to say that you have made such an impact on the art community by your talent, experimentation, and committment while proving yourself as an incredible inspiration.

Wow that's amazing. The discipline. Self introspection. You need an award for this. Some sort of CA.org Oscar. 1000

An absolutely amazing journey, I think I've learned more from watching the evolution of your portraits than from virtually all of my art classes combined. I'm going to miss these, but on the other hand I'm truly looking forward to seeing what you come up with next.

Best of luck in art and everything you do.

I have talked about your work to many people while I was in school about how I know of this guy online who has been creating a self portrait everydayfor the past X-amount of years. You are a true inspiration of creativity and dedication my friend.

I can't wait to see the Post of 1000 Androids.

The merit of what you have done is not only in reaching number 1000, but in what you have made and put into every single one of them. Every one of your self portraits of the day holds so much and is a microcosm into itself. Yet when I see many of them together like you have posted before, they form something new, something more, a view, the only rational word I can think of is Gestalt. When I see so many of your self portraits together, its like you have created something that is so more than the sum of its parts. Its wonderful. Yet every part is beautiful in itself and is a universe in itself, and each of them are wonderful, in their own way. There are no rational words or terms or way of thinking that makes justice to the testament of life in what you have done. I admire this with life.

You say you would have not be where you are today weren't it not for the community's support.
I don't know what or where I would be had I not seen what you had to share, but its definatly something I am most grateful I have seen.
If you plan on continuing that is great, but if you plan on stopping that is great as well, in its own way. Yet I would love to see you continue. I hope you continue your journey, its certainly been my privilage to witness, and to keep track. I hope you had the best of times, its been great to witness along, and on very slight occasions, join, in our own personal efforts.

You thanked us... I return the favor.

Thank you.

Congratulations Andrew,
I remember quite some time ago when I discovered this forum there was a sample gallery on the front page with some of the featured artists. Under your name was a compilation of all (or a lot of) the SPs you'd done up to that date and I was blown away- it was one of the things that drew me to the forum.

Now, when I think back I can remember a heap of your portraits-from the bus ticket one, the Tijuana one which I loved, man...when I think there are so many different styles, different approaches, different moods...thanks for each one.

Congrats on the big 1000 and thank you for the inspiration as well. You're a monster! It would be pretty cool to see a gallery with all 1000.

I've recently started my sp's again, and seeing you hit 1000 really gave me some good inspiration.

There's still stuff of what you said, when I talked to you in Amsterdam, spooking around in my head. And it comes up whenever I don't feel like drawing and makes me pick the pencil back up

Thx.

yes, yes, brilliant work, you are a good inspiration, but HOW THE HELL IS THIS A SELF PORTRAIT?

you don't feature, therefore it is not a self portrait.
and have you actually posted one thousand self portraits?

congrats for completing the journey. dedication-very inspirational. i love the slight hints of giger-influence in the bottom heads. also, very cool to pull away our attention from the real self portrait at the left. good use of colour and form.
the only thing needed to top off this fantastic journey is that you arrange all of those self portraits into a giant one of yourself. and sell that in minimum a3 size at the workshop or over internet. (you'd be rich in no time)

great you made it through & congrats for completing this huge task you set yourself...
I now wish I would ve stolen your sketchbook when I had the chance and had it in my bag while you were drunk in berlin.....
then you would have to draw a few more portraits for us to look at and drool over....
all the best,
c.
