dark warriors from the mists of time

Hi there,
these two warriors are part of a series of 8 characters I'm designing for the French games company Asmodee. They are for a role playing game in a fantastic world with races inspired from prehistory and history. Right down my street as I love developing all the symbolism that will characterise each people in a very visual manner and adding all sorts of objets that will typify the visual their identity. I already posted the second character but I put it in again for you to see them together.
More on there way....

Thanks for lookin in.
John

Hey John,

those two are my fav pics I've seen from you. I love that celt guy, very energetic. What does he say btw, he seems to scream something like "Pogue ma hone !" doesn't he ?

Very nice character work. Very visceral and gritty. Your style would be perfect for Warhammer stuff.

Thanks for your encouraging comments on my work, as soon as I get the others coloured i’ll post em.
As for you Living Rope, ill ‘Pogue your hone’ with pleasure, but only if truth be know to the world that you are the devil and you’ll grant me three wishes. One wish is certainly to understand how you make such wonderful images yourself, I’ll have to think of the other two wishes for the next time.
Cheers guys

I really like these. Post the pencil versions too, to show us how they looked before colouring please.

To nitpick, since I cant see anything wrong with the actual drawing, the Celt could be a little more historically accurate. He looks like a Gaul over all, but the club hanging from his belt has Runes on it which are Scandinavian and wont exist for another thousand years or so. Even if they arent runes, the Gauls never had a written language. (I know, very minor detail)
He is wearing a kilt, which doesnt exist until 1300 AD or so, hed be wearing pants with the same design.
His face paint would come from the woad flower, which is more blue.
He wouldn't have been wearing wrist armour or shin guards, or fur vest.

The overall attention to historiacl accuracy is really great though. The torc, celtic design on the axe, shin guard design, body paint and tartan cloth design really pay off.

Awesome work man.
