Valkyrie - First Real Posted [sort of] Complete Painting

Hey all. This is my first real [sort of] finished painting I've posted.

It's a character concept I've been working on for a while. The entire thing was painted like a texture on a per-pixel level, since that's what I do all day at work, and I got in a groove painting that way. Although the posted image shows some of the detail in the image, since I had to reduce the resolution to post it, I assure you, I did paint her cuticles.

I used Photoshop 7, a Wacom Graphire 2 tablet, and no reference. (I dislike reference; it's too limiting) Oh, and I painted this entirely on a notebook PC, which I wouldn't recommend anyone try, as you will go blind.

I can post some closeups if people request it.

I welcome C&C that anyone here can give. I have a mad amount of respect for so many of the people who post their work here, and I figure I can learn alot from what you all have to say. Hopefully this is the beginning of me posting my own personal work more regularly, since I'll be expanding my portfolio and painting for myself more often, when I'm not chained to my tablet and workstation at work.

Eew - Yeah, now that you mention it, the bicep does need tweaking. I'll fix it. The eye is ok. Unfortunately, this jpeg is too low a resolution to see the face properly. I can post some zoom ins of some of the details maybe tomorrow if people want. Thanks Eew!!

is it just me, or does she seem to have a chipmunk cheek? I guess it's more subjective, but I think her cheek is a bit swollen. Otherwise, seriously incredible job! I especially like her left (our right) hand!

Nice painting and design work. I do see some proportion issues- her arms are long and her feet are way small. The figure doesn't seem to hang together under all that stuff. What would it look like unadorned? That eye does look funky, bro- her face is kind of off-putting. Her cheeks are awkward, as is the sneer of her lip- I just can't read her expression. The main thing about the figure is that it's all... lined up. Her head is level, her shoulders are level, her hips are level- this makes her posture stiff and posed. She needs some contraposto to liven her up. I'm diggin' the sculpting of her armor. The lighting is kind of flat, tho- sharper shadows would help punch things up and make the figure pop better.
