hell hath no fury
Hello there! This is my second actual post here.
I've been very busy with class and work; it seems like I can never get a spare moment to sketch and keep my hand (and mind!) warmed up. This is my first serious, detailed sketch within the past few months. Admittedly, it's still pretty rough, so I decided I would show you kind folks and ask for any input you may have in regards to additions or observations before continuing on. I like it, and I want to go further with it. I see some great potential-- thinking of going back to it with deep colors using the flame as the sole light source. The only problem is that I don't know how to approach it. I've tried a couple times before but could not get a great palette down, but I refuse to give up on this vision! ![]() If it seems unclear: she is setting a mens' dress shirt on fire with a handy little lighter. ![]() Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks for looking. |

You might want to have some movement of the left hand away from the flame. Fire is -extremely- hot directly above the flame and unless she's so insanely out of it that even her involuntary reactions are ceasing, that hand will be screaming 'Escape!'
The right hand is at a very awkward angle for holding a lighter, it's tilted more sideways than up-and-down and the lighter looks very much vertical in comparison. For her right leg to be out at that angle, her upper body or her arms would need to be tilted much further forward than they are for her to maintain balance. Other than that, a very striking image ![]() |

Thanks for the quick response, Kitpup!
![]() You bring up some great points. I think I'll be reworking her grip on that shirt-- she's out of it, alright, but she should at least be a bit more wary with those fingers... The lighter will be a quick fix, I think. I was going to go back to that hand anyway, so great! As for the right leg, I did a little test (go mirrors!) and the pose did work out as drawn (though I'm gonna give her props for the lower-body strength required)... Though I will go back to her right leg and bend the knee a bit to steady her anyway. |

HA! I'm loving this one. One thing that seems funny to me is her right arm (our left). You are ending the curve in the middle of her forearm. It should be ending just a little past her elbow. So fix that, it looks like here bone is snapped, lol. Other than that and the other suggestions, good work, I hope you color it!
