Personally i would just stick to pencil and paper right now and really study anatomy and structure. The two faces look like a completely different style. The girl looks likes she's an anime character and the guy look like an attempt at a more realistic look. The girls hair looks like it is made up of tubes and I am wondering why you applied a texture to the jeans but no where else.

Your characters don't have any structure really, and pretty much no shading to represent their forms. I notice that you appear to have the girl sitting on the guys knee, but it doesn't make any sense as she would slip off easily in that position. It looks like the knee is not even a part of his body. The brushes you used are too varied, for instance I see very blurry areas and then areas that look like they were made with the polygon lasso tool.

In terms of anatomy, try reaching out with your arm like the girl is doing, you'll find it's pretty uncomfortable.

Now I am not trying to be mean or rude or anything, but every aspect of your image is in need of a lot of work. From composition, to anatomy, to color, to rendering etc...

I would advise you to work very hard doing studies and learning from reference. I guarantee once you have a basic understanding of structure, anatomy, color, composition and all those aspects, you will see a very rapid and dramatic improvement, I guarantee it!

Just one question, is this photoshop, and are you using a tablet?

Anyways I hope you don't take this personally, if you really want to get better you will, just work hard. Good luck and maybe try starting a sketchbook thread and do little studies often so people can give you some help.

I mean this in the nicest way -

GET OFF THE COMPUTER.

Put a pencil in your hand, get some paper, and start drawing the things around you. That's the only way you're going to improve.

I know it isn't as 'fun', but they are right, grab some paper, and a pencil and draw what you see. If you like drawing people , find some people and draw them. Don't draw people out of your imagination, at least not yet. You don't have enough anatomical knowledge to make them believable.

Do gesture drawings, do anatomy studies, buy and actually read an anatomy book for artists. You'll get there, it just takes time and effort.

What's missing here more than anything else (and there are other things) is structure. There doesn't seem to be any underdrawing of skeletal structure at all here, which would be trivially easy to do on a separate layer (one for each character) in Photoshop. It's why he has a knee in an impossible location, it's why the male character's head is flat and his features are sliding off, it's why her right thigh doesn't seem to connect her knee with her hip. It's why her upper arms are two dramatically different lengths. There's no guide to where to put the anatomy, and little in the way of 3D forms, so everything is pretty arbitrary. Look at artists like Loomis, Bridgeman and even cartoony stuff like Preston Blair. They all push structure and give a good indication of how to accomplish it. You'd do well to apply that to your PS work.

You mention in your other thread that you're very good at realism, but after this and the other attempt you'll forgive me if I'm beginning to be doubtful of that. If so, then you're certainly not bringing those skills and practices with you in the transition to Photoshop. I wonder if you could link to some other, more realistic work that shows your skill level with traditional media, perhaps it would be easier to see what's holding you back.

wait, what? Is she sitting on his knee?????? Ok, i didnt even know that until nezumi said something. First off. he looks like hes standing. There are so many things that can be said about this, so this is what your gona have to do. stop with photoshop. go back to pencil and paper. work on anatomy. draw still life. Practice. you wont learn over night. just practice.

It may be tough to hear man but they're right. Just take some time away from Photoshop and start doing some anatomy sketches.

Find a nice nudie mag and start from there. With actual pencil. On actual paper. With your actual hands. I mean hand.

The important thing to remember is that to be proficient, we must understand what we are drawing so we can make our drawings believable. Really look at a skeleton, understand just what is going on there... understand how each joint works, what kind of hinge relates to it so you can understand its motion and rotation. Understand the relationship of our shoulderspan to our pelvis, both in size and angle. just crack open an anatomy book and have at it.

The colors are bright and don't make any sense, and there's no significant light source. So, the shading and highlights don't make any sense. The values aren't dark enough, so the colors look very flat. Lineart. This piece needs lineart. It seems really unfinished, especially the fact that there's only one texture in the piece. The hair, the texture looks unrealistic.

I wouldn't draw manga style, I would work on drawing forms that exist in real life. Draw people around you, draw landscapes around you.
