Exclamation Aiming to become a game concept artist, but need some help

Hi,
I'm new to ConceptArt.org, I couldn't really find a place to introduce myself so I'm just taking a leap here.

Been browsing through here looking at various threads, but I haven't really been seeing any solutions for the current problem I'm having.
I'm aiming to become a game concept artist or content designer, and am in my second year of college at Westwood Online's "Game Art & Design" degree. However I'm hitting a whole myriad of problems, primarily money and time. Supposedly college should be helping me build a portfolio, but recently I've only been able to do the bare minimum, which is hardly portfolio-worthy. It's also getting incredibly expensive, the loans I'm having to take out are ridiculous (seriously, why is college so expensive? it's pathetic D: ) and right now I'm at the point where I'm so stressed that I'm burnt out. Also, my ADHD-based memory and motivational problems are pulling me down bigtime...which is part of the money stress, it's expensive to get diagnosed...

Main point is do I really need to be enduring so much stress and money trouble to get into game concept art? I'm thinking of transferring to another, much less expensive school if I can, but I can't do that until we move to Florida at the end of the schoolyear. Since my ADHD is making it increasingly difficult to handle the accelerated courses at Westwood, is it advisable to drop out, spend the next few months until the move working full-time and building a portfolio/working on my graphic novel, then find an art school or game design course?
I realize that college is important, but at the moment I have no idea what to do about where I stand in academics, mainly because I don't know what all is involved in getting to where I want to go despite hours of research, lectures and talking with people
(I may have to drop Westwood not just for money reasons, but because I'm running into a LOT of server problems that have recently barred me from attending classes, ergo I can't find out what my assignments are >_< )

Also, since I'm new here...I'm seeing a lot of "no IMG tags" stuff, but does that apply to deviantART too where I have almost all my work already uploaded? I want to get that clarified before I start posting any art here, I don't have the source files for most of the dA-based stuff thanks to computer problems.

sorry if I seem miserable, I'm just depressed from all this stress. Any help or input would be much appreciated, because right now I'm completely lost but need to make a decision ASAP.
