Hello everybody! I've had a sketchbook here before but that was almost a year ago (slacker!!) so I am making a new one. I'm kinda of a beginner so if that offends you then you may scream and leave now!
Edit: woops, just found that thread if anyones interested: http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=20531
For those few who remain, you might be wondering why I named this sketchbook as I did, as there is always a reason.. to make this a little more fun for myself I'm continuing where I left off with anatomy studies, and every week I'm going to set myself goals to complete by the following Sunday evening.
This week, I'm working on anatomy of the head. You'll likely see studies from Bridgman, Hogarth, Ryder and Hale before the week is out. Before Sunday is gone, my target is to draw 100 head designs (a la Marko Djurdjevik(sp?))
Without further ado, this is what I've drawn today and yesterday:
C&C always welcome

I haven't done any full body studies yet no.. I feel the head really makes or breaks a figure and want to work on that for a couple of weeks before I get stuck into full-figure anatomy and drawing!
I have no idea how to do value studies..? (or rather where/what to study from!)
keep up the studies man, anatomy is somethin i need workin on
try playing around with different light sources coming from different directions
and visualize it in your head
also try using still life references,
keep it up
good solid studies, I mean copying things off is one thing but trying to hack those into pieces to your own understanding is another issue. Looking good!
the best resource for value and anatomy that ive heard is the Burn Hogarth books, he's a little out there but once you master his stuff and add your own style its almost perfact. thats what everyone tells me, I diddnt use his books though.
deez: I'll look into finding some suitable still life things to draw, will definitely keep on drawing!
bumskee: Thanks! Wouldn't be able to understand it correctly if I didn't try and get all the information into one understanding.. its going to get a lot more confusing when I start incorporating others versions of head drawing into the mix!
worthless: Awesome, I thought I had all his books and remembered there is one about lighting which I actually don't have for some reason! Going to order it on amazon now!
Really enjoying watching your thread. The face studies look really good, keep up the good work!
Update for 16 June - been doing some neck studies.. little slack today so gonna make up for it with a huge update tomorrow!
Just realised how much anatomy reference I've actually got.. might end up extending this sundays deadline for another week so I can cover it all properly!
Anyway heres todays work:
I like the bridgeman studies you've been doing. They do look a little deformed though from how I remember them from the times I've drawn off of em. Regardless, keep up the good work. Looking forward to your next big post.
Just thought I'd make another post to say how brilliant I think it is that so many people are starting new sketchbook threads! It's incredible! Last time I was here there was maybe ten a week, now theres that many a day!
keep it up sixBlade. studies are looking sweet i need to do more of them. take a look at my book as well
aesir: probably are deformed.. I'm not perfect at this stuff yet and I'm not following them exactly.. putting lines down where I think they should go to follow the forms in the original sketches rather than line-for-line accuracy. Seem to have a problem with drawing things too wide too!
sunny: cheers! Going to look at your book now
No update today, got a (paid) work experience interview tomorrow that I forgot about so doing some backup work for that!! Deadline hereby moved to next sunday.. I was too optimistic with that goal anyway, no way I can cover 6 books of stuff in one week with other stuff takin up me time!
Edit: got work experience placement! woot!! its required to finish my uni course so getting paid is a BIG bonus to get cash toward next year!
