Those black and white paintings are so dramatic and awesome. The lighting is amazing!
Satu: Thanks! Will do! Hope you had a nice midsummer
MeteorCat: Thanks! I feel like it's really easy to make them dramatic - just toss in some really white lights and you're done haha.
nothing much. Started a SP but the lighting changed alot and I just called it off. Lousy wrong colours and stuff. And it's really stiff and as always the edge control is bad. Oh well. Was fun
EDIT: removed, It was baaaaaaad.

great work man. They look like master studies and they're awesome! I also like your quick landscapes work on previous page.
Now that you'll be gone for a week, I hope someone would make a Hyperbolic Time Chamber so I could catch up to you by the time you get back!hahah. Keep doing what youre doing.

Okay I'm back, wasn't a week after all!
kimozabbi: Thank you! Don't think you need time travel for that
xbert: Thanks man!
Stuff to get me back in the groove. I did some traditional stuff while I was away but not much.
Masterstudy, some thingie from head and a quick SP that shouldn't be uploaded.
Wow, you're doing really good. I see a lot of great ideas in your environments, cool character creations and nice colors in your work - I definitely like what you do, guess I'll go through your whole sketchbook when I have some time, it's awesome!
LastGen: Thank you! Glad you like them. I'm afraid if you go through the SB you'll find alot of bad stuff
Scribblescribble. Sorry I'm still posting such small updates on the character, I'm just working on it on and off - not very hard though. Also did more SPs but they turned out pretty bad.
The hard work you put in and your determination is admirable, really. May you be blessed for being such a motivation, proving that hard work is the way to success.
I'm wondering, do you already work as an artist?
One thing I'd like to mention, though, I'm definitely not in the position to give you any kind of critique. I see a lot of self portraits here and Pie Monster has mentioned it before: You seem to avoid anatomy, especially faces. You already changed that and that's cool.
I believe that doing a lot of self portraits might lead to a certain ideal that is being created, but which also doesn't offer the opportunity to go for dramatical - but still aesthetic - changes. Go crazy, just make it believable.
Chances are that I'm totally wrong, which would be even better. It would be a shame if you would attach to a linear and bad habit.
I'm gonna follow your work and hopefully I'll be able to outwork your advantage, hehe! ... I'm serious
lenzerwin: Thank you! Haha yeah, for some reason I prefer using headphones over using my speakers.
LastGen: Thank you! That really means a lot. Still I feel like I'm not working nearly hard enough, just slacking all day long. I'm constantly trying to work harder, with various results. I'm not working as an artist yet - I'm not confident enough with my work. I'm trying to slowly work towards it but so far I haven't managed to put together a portfolio worth showing to anyone. Every time I start working on a piece I think I'm going to finish to a decent level I just feel like it's not meeting the standards I would like and go back to doing studies.
Also thank you for the crit! It's always helpful to receive constructive criticism - one of the reasons I hang around here; hoping to pick up a few things from others. I'm definitely not comfortable with anatomy. I've gone through alot of anatomy studies during this summer but I haven't uploaded them. I feel like they've helped a bit but not nearly enough, it's just something I struggle with. My faces from imagination look horrible haha. With the SPs I've hoped to sharpen my observational skills as well as my knowledge of the face structure but I'm not sure how well it has gone. That shits hard. You're totally right though, I should start really working on the faces more.
Crap. I had to attend a family event today and didn't have much time to draw so heres just some stuff I was scribbling together. There was few creature designs from imagination but they looked fairly bad.
Anyways, just posting for the sake of posting. Trying to get back to the post-once-a-day -groove.
I also love the lightning on the first pic on 525.
And uuh now even more when you said its from imagination.
Just breathtakingly beautiful. Like this latest wip too hehe. Oh and been meaning to ask you, where do you find the ref photos for your portrait-studies? Always so neat lightning on them.
That first sketch in 525 rocks. Great use of reflected light.
The last character looks pretty interesting too, although the lighting is slightly confusing. Maybe you could separate light and shadow and define the main light source bit more. Judging from his stare, it's not tobacco in that pipe.
"You might be disappointed if you fail, but you will be doomed if you don't try"
Yeah, sketch one from #525 is nice - I can totally feel the atmosphere there.
Satu: Thanks! I just gather my images all over the place. When looking for references I usually use some imageboards / tumblr / flickr. I've set a extension in my browser so I can save images with a hotkey to a certain folder, makes gathering them alot easier.
ismo: Thanks! Good to see you back man. Yeah you're right about the light. I didn't plan anything beforehand (like usual, sigh.) so it looks like shit. I already stopped working on it. I kinda liked the idea thoguh so I'm trying to do something similar.
LastGen: Thanks man!
Just some quick stuff. I've been drawing and painting live model this week so theres not much to show at the moment. Also among my first contacts with oil painting - that shits hard but alot of fun.
Nice sketchbook, lots of variety in here.
Enviro studies are sweet.
Looking for Feedback! Please visit my sketchbook..
Yeah, yeah, keep rocking! I want to see those paintings, don't hide them
BenjaminJL92: Thanks alot!
Kambei Shimada: Thanks! I always feel like theres not variation going on myself.
LastGen: Haha thanks. I'll see if I can get some of those digitalized. They suck really bad though.
Just some scribbling around before I gotta run, it's baaad. Doing more live models today though, yay! They kick my ass but are alot of fun.
oh man I should really start making stuff thats more finished - they just always start looking like shit mid-way and I call it off. Oh well.
This week will be plein airs with oils all week long, yeah!
I'll try to fix this later. The values are off and theres no real sense of scale and shit.
Yeah, I'd love to see some more rendering. I'm pretty sure that it would look great if there a some warm light beams on the stones, a nicely rendered sky and some crispy edges.
The composition has a lot of symmetry - is that on purpose? Otherwise some overlapping shapes(the stones for example) would help out.
I love your environments...though, I'm still waiting for the oil paintings, hehe!
LastGen: Thanks! Nothing I do is done on purpose, ahhah...
Had a shitty day, didn't draw much at home (Excuses, excuses...)
Done with this weeks oil stuff. Back to grinding that art-exp.
Some scribble. ugh. Wanted to do something with the b/w -thingie but I just felt like the colours didn't work. I don't know why but I just feel like I can't work from bw to colour. I'm probably doing something wrong.
Nice environments, great atmosphere in that forest-swamp piece!
