I've been working on a painting for while now, but I can't seem to really like it... I also don't know how to 'finish' it...
It's a commission of guild wars, a monk riding Yakkington.
I hope you guys can help me?

I think its actually fine for a sketch! All you should do is continue detailing it?
Look for reference, such as big bulls and girls, trees, water spashes.. and paint them in!
Also, think of light sources, where is the light in your scene coming from and how would it behave on the surfaces (girls skin, bulls fur etc..)

I have to say it's really hard to understand the shape of the animal, like it is now it looks like the woman's other leg is sunken inside the animal, and not like the animal's back gets bit thinner to allow the woman to sit there.
Also the splatters and animal's expression makes it look like there's some speed going on, but the woman isn't trying to brace with her legs or get close to the animal so that she wouldn't fall off or decrease air drag. If the image otherwise said this was just a random stroll, I could go with it but now to me it looks like the woman is very passive compared to the animal.
Also why doesn't the markings on her clothes follow the form of her breasts and chest? The front is totally flat when the side shows pretty clearly the her clothes to show the form of her breast(s).

Thanks for the help! Both of you! I've been trying to change her posture but I can't seem to fix the problem i'm having...
I've also changed her hair a little to suggest the speed, those are really minor changes, I know but i havn't had alot of time lately, I'll be working on it later this evening!

I've been rendering a little more, but i've got troubles with rendering the upper left corner... Any suggestions? I'm really not good with enviroments, especially not when they're 'closer'...

How attached are you to this layout?
Forget your rendering, you need to sort out the structure, layout and composition first.
Character, then beast, then environment - those should be our focus (if you ask me)
The view you're giving us makes me think she is really small, rather than a normal (whats her race?) person sat on a huge beast.

well, it's suposed to be a normal human... I'm not attached to this layout, i'm just looking for advice how to improve this illustration, so if you know a way to improve this, go ahead and let me know!

Going to chime in with Venger. Put this down as an idea sketch
and start over, do a couple of thumbnails of different possible
poses/angles. Work on nailing the forms first and make sure
you have references for both the rider and beast.
Get used to having to bust your ass for commissions with lots
of prep work and research.

Sorry, I'm incredibly busy at the moment, so no time to do a paintover.
Try to work out all you details in thumbnails - there are many ways to indicate size, the most obvious is 'camera' placement.
Do more thumbnails, post them up here…

well ok, thanks for the advice! I think I'll just finish this painting the way it is now, and just start with thumbnails for my next drawing!
