Parsakoira, *__* whoa, love the movement and dynamics, and that mask looks pretty cool.
elephant“s stroke, yeah, thanx for the tip) Btw, nice sketches, keep it going.
tsujni, male character looks nice, except his unclothed arms - how about giving him gloves or something? =D
audit, cape and skull-mask looks great. And yeah, i got the same problem with warm clothes =D It makes my character look heavy.
Trolljack, whoa, that's something really standing out from the crowd) Nice design.
meeatu, hehe, thanx, man)
Dread_Reaper, yep, added some holes and gaps on his clothes and fur, looks like it works!)
Like your character's pose and wild look)
Here's a lil update. Got rid of heavy skirt and baggy pants, replaced heavy bone-weapon with horn-bow and wooden arrows, added "claws" on his shoes - that things allows him to move on the ice, climb the trees and deal additional damage in a close-range fight.
@DreadReaper you're right i'm scrapping that lol
@TrollJack wow I'm loving the idea
audit: Holy shit that looks awesome. Love face and the costume design. Awesome spear/harpoon too. I think the shape works very well now. Interesting shapes are important, but simplicity and repetition can work too. Obviously you can have shapes both simple and interesting at the time, probably the best way to go.
tsujini: that has an awesome feeling to it. Please take it further.
PaperJester:Awesome, heavy-armored hunter of the north. Very space-marine ish sorta.
YouAreNotAlone: great sketch. Love the all the accessories.
TrollJack: Awesome, love the helmet. His left arm seems a bit short though, and the waist a little too thin.
Ironbyte:Cool deisng on the outfit. His pose seems a bit awkward, maybe lower the center of weight a little bit? Also, if you can, take a picture of yourself holding two massive spears. I think the way he is holding it right now would probably cause a lot of wrist strain.
Anyway, here's like about 3 hours and a half's work. Don't think I follow your story Eofn, but I guess we can take our own spin on it.
So instead of the sorta winter ranger approach, I decided to try something different. When I think of hunter, I tend to think of somebody vicious and full of tricks and treacheries.
So here's a Mrs. Mildred Wombsmouth. She's a very kind old woman, and she loves babies, especially the taste of their cute little mangled pinkie fingers ;D
And here's just a crappy sketch, she has a cute little Beaked Serpent too. You know, can't hunt babies without a loyal pet, for her old bones especially.
I must get more hunting gear on this dude, since the clothes make the man.
Clothing inspired by Sami culture.
audit: Loving the mask as well.
elephant's stroke: Nice sketches. Kinda liking the one with the bow the most. I like the mask.
Trolljack: Cool concept! It has a very different vibe to it, would love to see how this develops.
YouAreNotAlone: Really liking the patterns and the tattered bits. It gives a nice weathered feeling to it.
Kerah: Great start! Don't know if you're planning to stick with this color palette, but so far it works nicely I think.
Zenarion: Big fan of color and I'm already loving this.
Alright, a bit of an update before going to bed. I'm still mulling over whether I should go with my instincts and amp up the color and patterns and stuff, but that would seem to go against the concept of stealth. Then again, it is fantasy after all. Hrm. Mull mull mull.
A Sami-based concept. Since it's fantasy based, I'll take advantage and make his harpoon more interesting.
Love means never having to say "you're a special snowflake."
Take a look at my sketchbook
Well Here's a quick one, still not sure if this is where I wanna go with it, but I'll post this one for starters.
Kahel - Like the almost piratey aspect of it in your sketches, looks like you've gone for a more tibetan look though
Parsakoira - I really like the movement, excited to see where that one goes
audit - Love the face mask
continue - I really like the different approach you're taking on this
I Do Sketch-Casts & Stream Video Games Stop by some time http://www.twitch.tv/confabulant
Hey all, thanks for the feedback:] Glad you like!
YouAreNotAlone - I really like the pattern work you have going on, he's got good bulk to him.
Audit - Love the mask, the 3 nostril holes add a nice touch. Love the painting style too.
Elephant's Stroke - I'm drawn to the silhouette of the middle guy amongst the 5!
maxscomputer - I'd love to see a mix of 1 and 3, brown and white furs could look pretty sweet.
Dread_Reaper - I like the eye's, nice touch. Certainly link the hunter with the eyes in some way. Have his eye's glow with feint magic trails leading up to the ones in the sky or something.
PaperJester - I like the idea and how tonk he is Only things is he doesn't read as agile, which you may want to somewhat address. "They must be able to move quickly to keep up with prey and away from predators."
Maybe try keeping the design but making him more lithe, or perhaps find a way to keep him as he is but enhance his movement?:]
Continue - That face evokes nightmares for me haha, nice take on the brief! Be interesting to see her develop.
Kahel - I love the head gear and hair. Could get some great silhouettes with that.
Updates. 3 hours in a coffee shop and a further 2 at a hotelXD
This is the character sheet I wanted to upload last night. Show's the initial designs and female orc behind the mask:
Put together an inventory sheet as well:
And then lastly I spent some time thinking up alternative outfits. The one's I'm leaning towards are 2,5 and 6:
Long post... apologiesXD

Ok so i decided to change it
Said magic was really rare so yeah, lol reaction to crazy demon temptress with fire

Trolljack is greathly inspiring to see the development of those ideas! I think the idea of the female orc is a very interesting one and fits the brief very good too.
Maybe one thing to try for a next time while sketching options, would be to also play a little with the proportions of the character itself besides of the costumes, armors, etc. Is just a little more work but you can find interesting options while experimenting with those.
keep the good work.
No distractions this week so I'll get this finished. Skadin is a hunter from the race of Bifurs who hunts the treacherous slopes of the Misty Mountain. Design of the backpack is to allow freedom to use all four limbs without hinderance. I sill need to delve further into the details on this one.
Looking great y'all!
I'm happy where the costume is going but I should praahhhbbbly spend some time thinking about equipment. Future Max will worry about that, though! Good Night!
Here's my WiP! Animal companion ok?
spent the last couple hours whipping up these ideas.
I liked it animal oriented. I'm thinking siberian people + mountainous area, i dunno.
for weapons, I like the idea of using carved bones/wood.

@Trolljack: looking mad good! cant wait to see it done!
yeah I took your suggestion and scratched the whole "heavy" look.
Very cool designs in this thread!
Here's my cookie-cutter viking dude.
First sketch, I hope to have it finished in time, I have a general idea of where this is going, the idea is that the kind of animal this hunter is after are far too dangerous to be taken head on so he adopt the sniper approach, all white camo and a really long crossbow, now all I have to do is come up with a way to build one of those from scratch exclusively with materials found on the hunting grounds..
Deviantart Page http://t-marasa.deviantart.com/
Gadbury the overall feeling and mood of the picture IS looking great. I like how the shapes of the hunter and the wolf are merging to form one unified silhoutte.
Really unique concept. I am interested to see how you'll integrate the fact that he's a quadraped into the composition itself.
Awesome, of course. The hips on the guy seem a little extreme, but otherwise really coming along.
Really impressive concepting man. Personally I'm with you on 2 being the best looking of the bunch.
Animal companions are okay, methinks.
You're going the right direction but you're in danger of falling into the same conceptual issue as the first rendition. Bring some of the North into your character to keep him grounded in the brief.
I love the giant crossbow idea. Depending on how you construct and render it you could have a really cool image on your hands.
So here's where I'm at. I really wanted to push the "ravens" aspect of the character so I ditched the fur for giant feathers, used a giant bird skull for the spearhead, and so forth. I think the concept is maturing but I still want to push the relationship to birds farther. Any ideas?

Wow, things are getting pretty awesome around here.
Blaarg I don't really know what I'm doing. Right now it's looking a lot like Mulan meets Pirates of the Carribean haha. Maybe I need to rethink this whole thing.
