Greetings humans, this is Flight of the Phantom, and I'm new here. I have been making music 'round 'bouts a year, linkages are posted down further south.
I'm posting my music to youtube, and I am finding that I lack desirable visuals. I don't draw legibly, but if you are interested in being featured/collaborating with a wee musician like myself, I ask for your hand in communication.
Perhaps you would like original music to post with your creations eh? Mmmm.
Deets: I'm an amateur musician, and I don't have a great deal of songs posted (4)...yet. I plan on putting up about 1/month so nothing too extreme. I typically think of visual scenes or scenarios for musical inspiration, so this seems like a good place.
If you would like, check out what I've got and see what you think. My inspirations are Daft Punk, John Williams, Skrillex, Amon Tobin, Bassnectar, AC/DC, Kenji Kawai, MGMT, Martin O'Donnell...
My genre is electronica, soundtrack, ambient...maybe some dubstep as I figure out how to get the sounds in my mind out of my computer...
checkout my links and comment here, there, or elsewhere that my radar will pickup.
Also, I apologize if this is not the best spot for this post. I acknowledge my noobity. Noobage? Noobidity? Nooboraciousness I'll say.
more about me and my artistic direction here:
also, wrong forum..
--Wait, whut? --
I see your point as illustrated by Mr. Harlan Ellison. And it's true, I should not ask anyone to do anything for free If I am getting paid, (I'm not). I imagine many, perhaps most here are professionals already making money in the industry.
But as a reminder, I'm not getting paid; yet. but when I do I will compensate those who have worked with me. Also, I am offering to work for free for a few, specific, initial people to get a feel for this type of collaboration, and for publicity, which has value for me.
The thing is, If you are interested in this idea, we can work out the details of commercialization and such so that before anything is published, both parties are in agreement. That said, there is no reason to trust me seeing as I am an anonymous artist. But if it's you receiving my work for your use, you don't have to trust me, I have to trust you.
I've given 4chan a look but it doesn't seem to offer the collaborative and constructive environment that I'm looking for.
For anyone interested, the link to my blog above gives more information on the type of project I'm interested in.
Again, thank you Mossi that video was a good reminder of the factors and points of view to consider.
The difference is - you're asking someone to work for free on your personal project.
How 'bout you hire an orchestra on your own dime to score one of my short films for free? I don't get any money for making them, just a reminder. But you'll totally get at least ten youtube hits, and credit.
MiniGoth, I looked at your sketchbook and I especially enjoyed the sunset and the descending owl, as well as a some of the pictures under 'Moar Stuff' (deadmau5 reference? -nice) that begins with the bottle top.
Perhaps you intended the second line of your post to be sarcastic - 'How 'bout you hire an orchestra...'
I am unable to hire an orchestra for any of my projects. I use personal recordings and sampling software (Reason 6 by Propellerhead). That said, If you would like a demonstration of what I can do with that, here is a link of an orchestral piece I created.
If you have a video that you would like to be musically scored using such methods, send me a link so I can check it out.
I don't have a great deal of time to spend making music, and I can't promise a quick turn around, but perhaps I could create a specific demo after seeing your video.
I apologize for taking so long to respond, I had not checked the associated email account in some time.
If you are interested, and I agree to score your video after viewing to ensure the content is appropriate, I will send you a demo (free) and if you approve of the demo, I will send you the full track(s) (free). I will hold copy rights though, meaning, if you were to start making money such as with youtube advertisements I would like a percentage of the income.
As well I reserve the right to commercially use the music I create for any specific project.
haha man can you imagine Harlon Ellison on the phone?? youd put the handset on the table and wonder off for a coke while hes yapping away

And then God said, "Let us make man in our likeness and our image. Let us make him ridiculously hard to draw so that poor artists everywhere will have to spend 10,000+ hours failing repeatedly before they can begin to capture the form and likeness onto a two-dimensional surface." And there was man. And it was good. And artists everywhere lost their minds.
He's not posting child porn or being obnoxiously rude/aggressive, so 4chan is not the place.
I get that most people don't want to work for free, but if a guy in the street asked you for a pound, would you make jokes at his expense and explain to him in patronising terms that you're not just going to hand over cash (which is the equivalent of of posting a video that can be summed up with the phrase "no such thing as a free meal, especially if you're an investment banker")
You've all probably noticed me defending a few people on this forum who have posts like FLIGHTofthePHANTOM's, but that's because they're people too (mostly), there's no point having a community where "if you're not already part of the gang, you can go fuck yourself while we point and laugh" is the default position.
@FLIGHTofthePHANTOM: While you are unlikely to find someone who will work for free here, you could join the website to help improve your artistic skill and eventually produce your own artwork for your music videos.
I understand that youtube is a treacherous place ATM and you cant just copy and paste a picture off of google images, but in the mean time, there are lots of videos on youtube that can help you create something like (below) with very little effort or skill. (in fact there are brushes which do big swirly patterns which you can download for free from: brusheezy
this took me less than five minutes including the time it took me to open photoshop and remember how to edit the layer style (double click on the layer thumbnail bit) there are also free programs that do the same thing.
I forgot to change the opacity of the purple line before printscreening and closing the image, but you get the idea. (you can have this if it's what you wanted).
Also, I quite enjoyed "alice in narnia" the name nade me giggle a bit too.

Barefoot, Thank You. Your suggestions are reasonable and I think I will put a bit of practice into creating my own art.
So far I have just done some simple text graphics; I do appreciate you taking time to understand my viewpoint, I really was not looking to take advantage of anyone.
Points to you for not getting riled up btw.
