Hey guys, it's been a while since my last post.
I have recently finished illustrations for the third, and final, book on Serbian Mythology named "Rebels", dedicated to vampires and witches.
You can find my earlier thread about second book on Serbian Mythology here: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=197017
VID THE VAMPIRE
He became a vampire by drowning in a river.
(I did this painting in oils on linen.)
Vampire Vid visiting his wife and son in his former home.
(This is a small painting (9x13″), painted in oils on half-chalk ground on linen glued to a panel. Because of a closing deadline I finished it digitally.)
This illustration is meant to play on our fear of dark holes, of caves, tunnels, darkness itself. Absence of presence makes suggested presence more powerful. Viewer fills the darkness with his personal fears, as opposed to me putting something I think is scary.
(I painted this in oils on half-chalk ground on linen glued to a panel, size 9x13″. )
Strahinja and his rooster are looking for Vid (Strahinjas father) in the dark forest. I painted this in oils on half-chalk ground on linen glued to a panel.
This was intended to be a pencil/charcoal study for a large painting, but it is included in the book. It represent an old, immortal vampire who desperately wants to die, but he cannot kill himself. He is holding a poppy flowers, symbol of eternal sleep.
Comments and critiques are welcome.
Hope you guys like it,
