So I've been working on this image for some time only to realize that I had placed an open book right in the center. The medium is pastels and even detail as intricate as proper lighting across the thin sides of the hardcovers is proving difficult. I am a bit stumped as to how I'm going to fill the blank pages with plausible content that will not disrupt the image.
I recall my painting instructor's brief lesson on text in paintings: "better not." I can follow this dictum and rework my piece with another closed tome, but I'd rather rise to the challenge (and save myself removing layers of pastel). Any suggestions? Thank you!

Doesn't have to be legible, readable text. Just a suggestion of text should be fine.
Thank you for the link--especially inspiring and appropriate as the composition for my piece was a nod to The Philosopher in Mediation. I appreciate your help!
