Knight Templar 001 Mech--UPDATED w/textures

UPDATE: OK, after some encouraging by members of this board and other input, I have added some textures and some additional lighting and shadows. Check out the final image for latest version.

I do not post very often, but one of my recent decisions regarding my profession is to try to become more involved online. So, I will try to post more often, when I can, since 95% of my work is covered by NDAs and such.

On to the work:

Designed a mech, using Manga Studio Ex 4.0 and my Cintiq. Line symmetry ruler and cleaned up the line art.

Followed up with painting in Photoshop CS 3. Used only hard edged and soft edged base paint brush. No textures, though I may go back and play a bit. I changed the legs, mid-design, because the bulky/boxy legs from drawing suddenly looked horrible. Total time, start to finish, about 8-9 hours.

So, now with the textures and such:

You have a pretty badass creation there! However, I would like to see more of your mechanical designs when you get the chance.

Pretty awesome!

(I confess I sort of want to see an off-axis view of the thing, though...the head-on angle seems a bit...stylized? Maybe it's just me.)

Gorgeous work. Love the design. Got to agree with Metal Fingers, some texture and weathering would make this pop even more. But that's just a suggestion. Great work. Kudos,
T.

It really is a great, classic mech design for sure. I feel like it's missing just one final layer of polish. I'm not a particularly great painter myself but I'm a massive fan of strong Mecha designs and art. Nonetheless, you could get a job with a few more drawings like this.

Thanks for all of the replies. I am very out of practice on this type of stuff and to answer a couple of the points brought up:

--I did the head on view because I was messing around with a symmetry/mirror feature in Manga Studio EX. I just took the sketch and continued to develop it until what you see above. I am considering taking the design and drawing something much more visually interesting as opposed to a more functional "straight on" shot to model off of.

-- The background treatment was probably not the best. I just don't have the time right now to do something more elaborate. Maybe just a white background? Suggestions?

Anyways, thanks for the insights. I hope to be posting again soon!

Like the mech design especially the wings part. It looks like it's about to launch from a pad or something like that.
