Nate Van Dyke (and Coro) - c36 D.O.A. - Available Now!

trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4xMbhxbSe0
purchase: http://www.payloadz.com/go?id=1135711
about n8: http://www.n8vandyke.com/index.html

Since Nate Van Dyke dreams of Coro's face every night it came as no surprise when he chose him to be the subject of his inking demonstration with Massive Black. It was also no surprise that he asked Coro to be a co-host since they used to work together in the same office at Shaba Games. This video features two veteran artists and friends discussing a variety of topics ranging from drawing materials, men's lips, and the amount of control that an artist has over the final piece. Also included are many jokes, gratuituous use of the word "dude", and bonus drawing footage without voiceover. If you're easily offended you might want to stay away, everyone else please enjoy.

---
Nate Van Dyke is a prolific artist and illustrator who began drawing at the age of two and has yet to stop. N8's medium of choice ranges from: pencil, ink, marker, watercolor, gauche, acrylic and oils. Regardless of what medium N8 picks up, his signature style can be seen in the contrast of his thin and thick lines in his pen and ink work and the high sheen contrast in his mixed media pieces. N8's heavily detailed illustrations feature his heavy metal humans and his well-known future primitive apes with dark menacing personalities. His color work features studies of animals (apes, elephants, giraffes) against lustrous backdrops.

N8 recently took a job as a senior concept artist at NCsoft working on City of Hereos. Just prior, he finished creating concept art and storyboards for the Sega video game, Iron Man. His work has also been featured in several magazines such as JUXTAPOZ, XBox, PlayStation and Heavy Metal. Over the years N8 has attracted clients such as Converse, Levi Strauss, Scion, EMI Records, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Burton Snowboards, Slayer and Wired.

N8’s work has been commissioned and showcased internationally. In 2008, he had two gallery shows: London and Portland, Oregon. In February 2009, he won a Silver Award in the Editorial category of Spectrum 16. Check N8's resume for more detailed information.

I first saw n8 on coroflot about 4 years back...been a fan ever since. I like it when people curse in the downloads. Feels so much more genuine.

Sweet. The two-people-chatting format looks really cool. Definitely pick this up at some point.

Awesome. I love his art and I love working with Pen and Ink. And wow, I just noticed that his shirt is from the music art show with Aaron Turner and some other badasses called Catalyst. I didn't know he was in that, but I'm jealous to who ever went to that show.

didn't bought this yet, but need to comment on what already was in the trailer. what a genius idea to have that conversation with coro in there instead of an conventional voice over. that was realy fun and educational.

you could literally put some guys in a room together with an audiorecorder and a list of various stuff to talk about. similar to what jordu schell is doing.

cheers and keep em coming.

This one is my very first buy!

I really like his style and techniques.

And it's realtime...maybe this will comfort me about being a sloooow artist...

*EDIT* The playback is really jerky...does anyone else have this problem?

It's an HD file so it requires a fairly decent computer. Also, I find that VLC works better than Quicktime at playing .mp4's so I would try that program instead.

I'm wondering this too. It does look like a Koh i Noor.. Anyone able to shed some light on this? Looks like an amazing brush/pen to use.

Unless its some custom thing that you can't purchase.. Maybe I'll look into that.

It looks like the large size but it's hard to tell, here's a huge collection of brush pens:

A man after my own heart...I definetly have to look into these Pentel Brushes. My only problem would be that the refills come with a specific ink and I don't know how it would mesh with my current ink. For example, if you take Trans Mix Media Ink black and Pen over it with black india ink standard. There is a huge difference in the darkness of the two blacks...

Maybe there is some way of modifying the refills to add whatever ink you have...
