Concept: Nordic Mantle Rat The Nordic Mantle Rat is used to living in the stormy landscapes of the coldest places on earth such as the North and South pole. They move only at night and during heavy snowstorms for their light absorbing mantle and dark skin give them exelent camouflage. They also have very lightsensitive eyes used to the dark. With their long arms and legs they can run at high speeds and because they are so big they have no problem what so ever moving over obstacles or through shallow water. For the icy wastelands are very short on food they have developed perfect hunting skills. With their enormous teeth they literally crush their prey mostly swallowing them at once. By humans the mantle rats are referred to as the moving coats for they look alot like a moving rock wearing a furry coat. But don't be diseaved by its somehow furry cute look! My final. Wish I had more time but alas...
Known to the locals as the Yos'haa, the Tundran Krango is a rarely seen and even more rarely reported upon. Being so large, the Yos'haa needs to live and hunt on the more substantial ice masses. Living primarily in caves and only venturing out at night, its primary food source must be anything nocturnal and anything smaller than itself. Incredibly strong and fast, the Yos'haa can move at speeds up to 40mph in a prey chase lasting about 5 miles. Last edited by MEMPER; May 15th, 2009 at 11:39 AM.. |

Concept: Furiosaur These dinosaurs feast on pinguins and bears. They are 3 times the size of a full grown bear. Although their fur is brown in a white landscape and their only camouflage is their light grey skin, they move fast and are the second biggest creature there. The blue hard bone on their head and on their arms are sensors that make them aware of the warmth of body temperature so they can feel whenever a living being is coming nearer. Concept: Arctic Angler Arctic Anglers are a colossal serpent-esque species that lurk in the snowy darkness of the Siberian Wilderness. They are named for their odd mode of predation, in which a fleshy growth extends from the beasts head and acts as a lure. Rarely seen by humans, the Angler dwells underground. The creature only comes to the surface once it's time for feasting. |

Concept: Valtoittaur Tortoise Long believed extinct, the Valtoittaur Tortoise is a distant relative to the giant tortoise and is the largest and most aggressive of this reptile family. Often mistaken by many mis fortunate arctic explorers of the 18th and 19th centuries the Valtoittaur will often lay dormant hidden under layers of ice and snow waiting for signs of warmth of unaware passers by. They can range in size from 10 to 20 meters in height and are often mistaken for ice caps and ice shelves until they charge their prey. These animals belong to the most ancient group of reptiles, appearing about 250 million years ago. Only 8 individual cases have been documented in recent history since their rediscovery and all resulting in extremely violent encounters with up to 35 known fatalities in total. This single photo is the only known evidence to their existence and many experts still are skeptical of its authenticity.

This creature has no name. It has only been seen a few times. It smells ships and towns from miles away, using it's tail to swim under the ice. It uses the spikes by it's eyes to crack the ice and devour anything there.
PS this is my first entry..i hope it's ok enough to be submitted. ![]()

ARCTIC JUGGERNAUT
In the white icy deserts of the arctic this creature is known as RAGE DEMON or the Arctic juggernaut. These are the name by which it is referred to in the legends of the Arctic. The creature knows no exhaustion due to the excessive pumping of adrenaline. The production of fatigue toxins is extremely less in its muscles- giving it extreme stamina, speed and strength. But the drawback is that it has an extremely fast metabolic system. So whatever it eats gets digested almost completely and very fast. Hence it has the urge to keep feeding. This monster can run for hours on end with ever increasing speed. Another awesome feature are the super-dense horn like bony protrusions that are arrayed all over its head and shoulders and that adorn its elbows, joints and the tip of its powerful tail. All these features and its awesome strength combined are the reason why its called the Arctic juggernaut. It can achieve extremely great speeds and thanks to its great strength and bony armor can crash through most obstacles. It has been known even to have bored right through icebergs. It is the supreme predator of the Arctic. It knows no fear and takes down animals far larger than itself thus doing justice to he name JUGGERNAUT. ![]() This is my first time in C.O.W. I kinda posted my final image with concept in the COW WIP thread yesterday. Hope I am not too late in posting it here now.

Concept: Werebear Polar bears are the largest carnivores on land and dominate the arctic, except on the first full moon of every third month, as long as it is a Tuesday. This is when the Werebears are unleashed from their genetic prison. Almost twice as large as the polar bear, the Werebear weighs in at almost 1500 kg, and has at least five times the bad attitude. Rumors among local peoples suggests that long ago a polar bear had awkward, but totally consensual sex with a wolf. The Werebears actually begin their lives as normal wolf cubs born to normal wolf mothers, but as the descendants from a strange heritage, they transform upon the night of the anniversary when, you know . . . that thing happened. The Werbears are possessed by an unstoppable rage stemming from the shame of their freakish interspeciesness. |

Concept: Juggernaut logg entry 265: ... It's clearly feverish, stumbling and staggering in circles. Its deafening roar usually inspires fear and panic... but its tone has changed, if I hadn’t known better I could swear it was crying... for three days now its been the same... it's visibly growing tired, emaciated... logg entry 266: ... Either it's gone blind... or it hallucinating, last night in an attempt to lead it away from the colony, I sent a scout team to the west, to distract it with flairs. But when provoked, there was no response... If it is blind, then we must act! Tomorrow we attack with everything we have, although we are dangerously under equipped. It is likely that we could all die, but if there is a chance! Just one chance, to kill this thing, this thing that has taken so many lives! It must be done. logg entry 267: Just after dawn we attacked, our gamble paid off, it appeared not to even realise we were there, it could barely stand when we reached it, my men lashed ropes to its leg’s to try and topple it... to be honest, whether we attacked or not I think it would have died, our medical staff took samples from the corpse, it appears that it contracted a viral infection, probably from one of the thousands that had died by it's fury.

Concept: Northern Snapdragon -From a lost journal page It ate most of our entire expedition, it broke through the ice floes, at first all we saw were tongues, snaking through the cracks as they grabbed people left and right, then the maw of the thing crashed through onto land, swallowing our team like shrimp, the size of it was beyond words, I couldn't see past it's head, as it focused on each victim with lantern eyes. I ran, as far as I could, I think I lost it, though it made no noise when it found us, so I can't be sure. Have to finish this journal, make sure somebody knows what happened...

Concept: Tyrannopyschus Tyrannopsychus is a powerful telepath that lives in freezing temperatures of arctic. Although it has many mental abilities, the most notorious one is its telekinetic power, the power to control and move any object and matter in its vicinity. It spends most of its life hibernating under deep ice, until feeding time that is! Then, it becomes constantly shifting unstoppable force of ice that devours everything in its way. It is indestructable as long it stays in temperature that is cold enough, in fact conspiracy theorist agree that global warming is a tactic forged by world goverments to melt all ice on earth - thus destroying tyrannopsychus once and for all.

The avalanche may startle the creature into a panic... and the resulting stampede causes even more avalanches. Situuttuqs are known to unintentionally wipe out all flora and fauna in the vicinity in this way.

Concept: DreadMoose In more ancient times the Dread Moose was known to attack anything that entered its territory. Anything it heard, saw, smelled, and god help anything it tasted. In a strange act of cosmic fairness a roaming god of mischief took away the dread moose's sight, its nose, its ears and even its tongue. The surrounding tribes took to the street and danced for now they could hunt where they pleased. Unfortunately for the tribes without its senses the Dread Moose cannot tell where its territory ends and with a newly gained rage has been attacking everything everywhere ever since. |

Concept: Pouel Arctic juggernaut of death. Once every millennium the climate goes through changes that throw the land in to utter turmoil. The polar ice caps melt and unleash frozen prisoners that cannot survive without the cold. These beasts roam the land and smash the life from all in they're path and in addition they are highly magnetic and all compasses point directly to them as if they were North. The Pouel devour the fallen and convert their bodies into ozone. Once the ravaged and depleted lands ozone layer is repaired the poles freeze and the Pouel return to their slumbers.

Concept: Kyanisk This deadly arctic predator is especially equipped for hunting ice-locked prey. With a sharp, beaklike tongue that protrudes from rows of spiky teeth over 4 inches long, it stabs through the ice and spears the unfortunate victim. Backwards-facing spikes act like fish hooks and keep the prey from slipping back into the water. Its body is covered with a sharp, shiny layered mineral, similar in appearence to kyanite, which splinters and terminates into deadly spikes.

Concept: Arctic Snail This gigantic snail is, against what one could beliefe, very fast. It uses it strong Arms and sharp claws to gain momentum and glide very fast over the ice. While that, it uses its tentacles to collect every organic lifeform (like a mop) and to throw it in its ever open big mouth. In the Snailhouse is a special stomach that servs as a cooling chamber where the Snail can hold much polar-bar-meat fresh to eat it when the polar bears (the main food source) holds winter sleep.
