PlusCandy- Sketchbook

Well I figure I will start a Sketchbook now... Im finding this site is helping me alot.. and having somewhere to update my current studies will really help me stay motivated!  I guess I should introduce myself! Im a 20 year old female in canada~ I have never truly taken my art seriously and would like to start doing so~ Thanks to this site Ive been actually really trying for the first time in my life. (not that thats long  ) Oh and I mostly tend to do anime art... so you might find some of that here! but Ill be doing lots of realistic stuff as well to improve my understanding!Im mainly going to be updating with lots of Sketches and studies in my struggle to get better~ So thank you for taking the time to look if you do! bg is a 30 min Sketch I did today~ looked at a photo on >>http://canadaphotos.info/ and then drew it as best I could looking at the picture I did the coloring without looking... I couldn't find the site it was on again until now~ Last edited by Pluscandy; May 31st, 2009 at 10:09 PM..

Hello, miss! Welcome
I like where this is going... The apple turned out quite well, though the shadow is a bit extreme and would look a little nicer if you could tell it was resting on that cloth surface as opposed to floating in front of it. Off to a healthy start! Show us more!!

IanE~ thanks! your right I was to lazy to draw cloth ot the table or anything! Ill make sure I dont do that again~

ok so I kept working on my coloring~ its actually turning out pretty well!

working on eyes as I always make them the same shape~!
and still working on males... mainly the more muscular ones... as my guys tend to be really girly~ sooo I find it hard to draw some of my guy characters... Last edited by Pluscandy; May 12th, 2009 at 12:49 AM..

One thing I noticed at first glance is the lack of reflected light in the apple. I totally had no idea when I first joined in here, but it gives so much mre depth. Because the light shining from the right, reflects on the cloth and then on the apple, giving the back just a tad of light.
Keep going.

You show great potential so far. Your sketches of full bodies, as well as the hands are solid. And looking through again just solved the main critique I was going to give you about eyes. Keep up the studies, they're paying off.

Really awesome sketchbook, you have a great style going on but my only crits would be; More pencil or traditional media work and also more full body stuff
But other than that looks real nice!

Bagg~thank you~ Ill work on doing more full body stuff! Ill try some traditional stuff... I do, do some but I really hate working with traditional media but Ill make a point of posting some next time I do some! ok so some full bodys and icky hand... I can not draw hands holding pens... migueldsgn~ aww thank you!
as far as the hair I can try to tell you however I tend to just do it and not think about the steps and Im bad with words... anyway... I normally start with basic line art and a base color then on another layer do 3-5 different shades darker then the base in strands.... (of hair? ) on another layer I color the area in black that I want as shadows from my main light source... then change the opacity to 15-4% depending on how dark I want it... for the highlights i just kind of scribble in a color thats lighter then the base color then erase what dosent look good and the erase some of the darker colors to show more of the base color around the highlights... I think thats about it... sorry Im not to helpful~I think Its done now... still need to improve alot but Im still happy with it... oh and some hands holding pens!O.oI love just being able to see some ones eyes~ its... just so fun! I had some pencil studies today but my scanners being stupid so Ill have to see whats wrong with the tomorrow~!

I sense a great deal of improvement about to come to you from doing these basic value studies. Stay awake and aware of what you're doing and once you have a good idea, stretch it a bit further!

well I haven't been posting or even on here and I dont have much to post even now... Im Selling a house and we are having a hard time... everyone likes it and say it shows well but the market is so slow its insane... anyway past few days we have had masses of open houses so I haven't really had the chance to draw much~
Ill get back to it tomorrow~uhgg... apple is just looking at colors not shading and the bike thing is just cuz thats the hardiest part for me to draw...XP thanks for looking~XD Last edited by Pluscandy; May 12th, 2009 at 12:41 AM..
