Fairie with a gun

This is a concept for a 3D character I will be modelling - I'd like to put this in my portfolio along with the finished model. please comment!

I really like it! Like the line work and the subdued color. From a nitpick point of view - her right foot is a bit off and the wings seem to have no definition and fade away. Maybe give her an evironment to be in.

Some lines are a little angular - make esp. her toes a little strange looking.
The part of her clothing that lies between her legs looks a little unlucky in my eyes. maybe you want consider to add a shape that its not a singular element or remove it.
otherwise this looks really nice.

crits

Great comments guys, I'll post a revision when I get a chance - "The part of her clothing that lies between her legs looks a little unlucky in my eyes". That's awesome, I love the term "unlucky", I think I'll have it removed so her gender is no longer in question!

I made some changes, redid the wing design. I wanted to keep this like a Carlos Huante sketch so I'm not doing an envirinment/background.

This is looking really good!
I love the wings and bra texture.
The one thing I would work on is her leg. It seems to have a extrange curvature.
Also a part of her neck has dissapear. I´ve made a paint over to express myself better. I hope you don´t mind.

cheers-

hey thanks for the comments and paint over. Obviously I missed the neck completely!! There was something bugging me about the leg and I think your diagram has nailed it. Its always obvious once someone else points it out. I also noticed a weird bump on her shoulder bove the origin of the wing.

Thanks again!

The position of the crease under her knee seems to subtly conflict with the direction her foot is facing (which also seems to be missing toes). The concept is rather nice, though.

Her right lower-leg is too short. Also the foot is lacking toes.

Other then that, the upper crits are good.

best,
abee

ps. Something fishy about that armpit?

Better or worse?

Some quick touch ups based on the comments...I decided to redo the wings, they're just not working for me.

just beautiful, such a soft color scheme. I really like the way you have that gradient style, also the stylized line work. Some anatomical things were off, but if it was meant to be that way, that then you shouldnt worry about it.

Nice colouring, but some things don't seem to add up. I did something paintoverishly, which was easier for me than saying it. Not sure if this is it, but you do need to adress the shoulder area and the symmetry of the face. Basically just a matter of construction really.

The stark white background is a bit distracting for me. Anything but stark white will direct more focus to the character in my opinion.

Well, everything else has been said, so i guess ill just say I really love the style, a nice forest background or something would be awesome. But anyway, I can't wait to see the end product. Good Luck.

Thanks for the greta comments

Had to work on other stuff today but I hope to do a revision later this week.

- As far as the white background goes, I was trying to ape Carlos Huante, but I don't know, maybe a nice Art Nouveau background could be cool, or just some simple colors.

- I'm actually really happy with the face as is, I like your suggestion Walnut but your version changes her character a lot, maybe too sultry? My original face, while admittedly stylistic, does not look wrong to me. I'll work on the shoulders and arm, but don't want to make her too broad shouldered. I'm still troubled by the feet and the right hand.

Thanks again...
