OH!! HA HA HA! I AM BE MANIPULATE BY YOU! HA HA HA.
Actually, this is one of your better pieces. I like the expression and freedom a lot. The left hand is awkward though. It might be the anatomy on the thumb. Again you should study Bridgman's books. Especially his book of 100 hands.
Do they have Bridgman's books over there?
Thank you for your suggestions
Bridgman ~ wonderful !!!
I think that's Bridgman's Life Drawing. I mean this one...

I won't get into the discussion you've got going here, 'cause it's just so stupid.
Just wanted to say that the piece in post #275 is BRILLIANT!! I have huge amounts of respect for you and your work, and please don't ever stop.
this ranges from amazing...to wtf
waooo after I have seen those nudity stuffs I haven't visited here for ages, you do bring a lot of conversations and critiques, but you are good artist, being artist I feel we both spending huge time to explore our own world, more you explore better you are, but what direction and what stragegy, I don't care, as long as you love what you create I feel it is totally all right, me I am a very commercial artist but still enjoy some of your very creative art works, but about those dead aniamls and some craps on the street, I totally hate them, but I respect your creativity and keep posting more here, keep exploring your own world even everyone told you are crazy
Someone here wrote something like, "going outside taking a picture of a dead cat is not art", when it comes to photography, are you going to define art by the subject photographed, or by the way it was photographed? I have seen "your kind", many times, you are the one who find what is pleasing to YOUR eye, art. What disgusts you, disturbs you, or what you can't understand, you consider to NOT be art.
You can see a photograph of a dead cat, and say, it's not art.
You can see a photograph of a tree, and say it is.
Where is the difference?
ANYONE, on this forum, on this PLANET, or in this UNIVERSE, is sitting on a mighty high horse if they think they hold the right to decide what is art and what is not.
I don't have too much to say about this thread, other than that, I find it a lot more interesting than to see another drawing or painting (for the billionth time) of a fantasy dwarf or sexy human or elf female or whatever, battling some dragon....
With that said, I personally think the word art, and concept of art is a pretentious one, especially when I see that in todays society a couple of paint sprays on a canvas is art. So maybe we agree to some extent, I just think it's even more pretentious and arrogant to say that this is art, and this is not.
'scuse my english.

oneshotwo,if we can´t say what is art,or what is not, then art is nothing...or everything! Is everybody an artist? Why are you an artist? And why I am not?Take creative photos is not just press a button. It can be done by anyone!Wanimal´s pencils, models and photos of insects are very good! But those photos of the dead cat and dead rat are just...meh,just press the button. If I take a photo of a decapitated man hunging from the ceiling with his chest open...do you think is that art???Will somebody say is art? What about those cans filled with shit of an "artist"?Are you going to buy one because somebody said that this is art?I think that many people is making money using this word,"art" in a strange way,and is fooling many other people...ummm...I´m not talking about you, wanimal, don´t wanna offend you,is just a reflexive post.
Yeah, that's the one. You have a great deal of talent and learning to draw the complex forms of the body out of your imagination will greatly advance your work.
From what in this quote of you, you seem to be under the impression that I say what is art and what is not, that's very mistaken, I suggest you read my post again, because what I said in that post was that I think people on a "mighty high horse" or something to that extent - if they decide what is art and what is not as if it's a fact. So I'm certainly not doing that myself.oneshotwo,if we can´t say what is art,or what is not, then art is nothing...or everything!
About the specific example you gave, taking a picture of a decapitated man hanging from a ceiling with his chest open - you can't describe a picture with words and expect me to decide if it's art or not, when I wouldn't even decide that if I saw the actual picture. And if I did see the picture, I could speak on the technical and creative aspect of it, the composition for one thing, but other than that it's not up to me deciding what the general public perceive as art.
Like I said in my previous post, I think art is a very pretentious concept. And if I were to read up on what the general public think art is, I would have to say that I think every human being is able to make art, in one way or another.
I registered an account on this site just so I could comment on this thread. For being a website called Conceptual Art dot org, there are some really narrow minded and ignorant people here. Thankfully, it's the minority. I read and looked through ever post on this now sizeable thread, and laughed so much. Some of it was like "HAHAHoly SHIT that's nuts!" but most of it was at some of the ignorant diarrhea falling from the finger-tipped mouths of some members of this sites community. (Like the guy who thinks "whit" is a word, LOL!!)
Codenothing, you're a passive-aggressive twit.
ICH, you're just a twit.
Camara, I don't even know where to begin, so just do us all a favor and be done with your comments.
Kev Ferrera, read the post, he already said he made all the chairs, etc. Why don't you go google Satre and then see what his nazi miniatures and setting mean to you. But next time spare us your community-college-campus-flyer evaluations. Plus, why the fuck are you questioning what he wants to show us? Are you the censor of this site? Sure seems like you want to be (plus some others). Your critique belies your own feelings of inferiority to Wanimal's skill in a none-to-flattering fashion, why not over compensate with some more regurgitated Google-wiki drivel?
As for the next fool who wants run on in a diatribe about how this or that isn't art, or to provide a banal psychological evaluation (almost as substantial as a highschoolers pop-quiz essay) of what his art says about him, think first to yourself, "this guy is from china, he's not fluent in english, and isn't going to read my book of a reply because he knows only the people with nothing worth while to say will blab on and on about his beautifully grotesque portfolio, further more he doesn't give a flying fick what I think".
As for Wanimal's works: inspired and common place, simplistic in composition, yet complex in every sense, beautiful and grotesque, exuberant and morose, in a word, life. In another word, art. Or in a few more words, life as depicted by the inherent stark contrasts of which it's very nature is. If there is one common theme throughout his work (not that it's necessary to be that way, as a few seem to think) it is just that, the duality(s) of the experience of life.
Wanimal, you are a wonderful artist, a true gift to this forum and indeed humanity, can't wait to see more. Bravo.
Emsquared, in case you couldn't figure it out for yourself, I was being counter-provocative in a lot of what I was writing. Putting a little porny icon on your thread and naming it what he has named it makes this thread a fair ground for adbusting. I was also trying help where I thought I could help. I think wannimal knows I think he is good, or else I wouldn't have taken the time to work against his theatrical streak and to talk with him about simple matters of craft. To bring it back down to earth.
I did make a mistake about those little pieces of furniture. I missed wanimal's reply, which in my defense, was rather small. Obviously the furniture is impressive in its own right. Kudos again to wanimal!! And an apology for thinking you had cribbed those little bits of furniture from the dollhouse store. Bad kev!
I've read my Sartre thank you. Check that I put the word "play" in quotes. I was referring to something more than the play itself, I was referring to the cartoony version of the Sartre play that was being put out by these talented fellows. Point being that the cutesiness of the figures may destroy the meaning of the text. Possibly I didn't make myself clear.
Inferiority? Grow up. Check my thread. I'm fine in the art department. I happen to enjoy a good tussle.
And in that regard may I say, I am allowed to question anything I want about anything I want. Does that bother you?
Best to you Wanimal,

Erhm... the icon is just the first image he posted (attached to the forums), that's how the forum works. The "100% not safe for work" part of the title was added by a Mod, obviously to warn people who surf CA from their workplaces because of the mature content posted here. You can notice the "last edited by..." thingie at the bottom of the first post.
I really don't know what's with the whole controversy here... I personally find this thread to be one of the bests on CA.org. I can understand how some stuff cannot be everyone's cup of tea... but when that happens to me I just ignore the thread and get on with it. You can't satisfy everyone! And you can't expect everyone to please you either.
So Wanimal, cheers to you man! Truly inspiring work
Guess I'm still a noobie about the 100% thing. But it is very easy to change one's first post and thus icon. And to choose as the first post the one that he did, among all his works... well I think we know what that's all about. Which is cool and legit. And so's my adbusters type attempt to counter it.
All's fair in love, war, and art.
Hey Wanimal... No! U R THE BEST!
Rock on bro!
Incredibly inspiring thread Wanimal! Keep hem coming.
And btw, I think those nazis are fucking twisted and creepy.
Fedezz, I've done it fifty times already. It take five seconds. I give wanimal enough credit that he would be able to figure it out if he wanted.
Wow, just been through the thread.
That was one wild ride!
Uuuhh... Where does it say that? Conceptual art and concept-art isn't the same thing emsquared.Originally Posted by emsquaredFor being a website called Conceptual Art dot org
