Now or never. If I don't take the leap into this sketchbook thing I may procrastinate for ever.
Don't expect to much most of what I have are sketches rarely more that ten or fifteen minutes work.
But then again what else would you expect in a sketchbook. Suggestions welcome.
O.K. to start, the bear above was done from a reference. I don't trace, but I
did do my best to copy the look of the bear while adding my own touches.
Damn I could shoot myself, now I feel obligated to post...
Oh well here are some doodles, some faces of the people I have seen while at my favorite restaurant, and me shooting myself.
I hope thats not too much.

It's good that you're doing life studies. That gnome is awesome XD Post more soon
i think you're really taking great initiative by using photo refs for some works.
I also like that you've got some twisted thoughts goin on there...usually that results in better artists.
and as for suggestions, i feel that you view your drawings as 2 dimentional. when you draw your subject try visualizing your subject in 3 dimentions. draw an underdrawing of a very simple 3d shape (something resembling what it is oyu're drawing. that sort of forces you to see it the way it is in real life
also LIFE DRAWING was my saviour in anatomy. if you get a chance ..do not miss it.
Zombi: Thank you; yes of course now I'm obligated
Ped: Yes it is hard to get those 3d shapes onto a 2d paper. thanks for the suggestions.
Now for some more sketches. Some doodles while watching a gymnastics class.
I am working on being fast and good memory as they don't slow down.
And a few more faces from my favorite drawing restaurant.
Oh, the two kids on the same scan the one on the right she did
look like a doll. Her parents had her all dressed up like a little doll.
May have been an only child, poor kid.
Ah, I guess I will have to rename the files if I want them to show in
a different order. Oh well next post.
I have been watching the weekly challenges and love the idea of a new topic every week.
Before posting my first, I tried out a few without posting them.
I did not finish or post them to the challenge but then why let my ideas go to waste.
Here are my ideas for
3ch#32: An enraged fork bites a soviet aquanaut in the garden.
3ch#34: A paranoid grimalkin sneaks by a fedora deep in the forest.
( my witch's name would have been fedora)
Eow#55: After the battle.
OK my first submission to the 3ch challenge.
This was challenge #38
"An uncanny meerkat leaps over a pothead on a church top"
My first sketch and then my try at digital color.
That last girl in the gymnastics set and the scuba girl look great
Keep drawing from life!!! Also, try doing a full-fledged still life or two -- great practice for rendering, values, etc.
Keep posting (Great bein' obligated, ain't it )
Look, see! Nifty art! http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=99803
Hey! Check out my blog here
Before I started I thought it would be so simple just update.
But, finding the time is strangely difficult. Here are some old
sketches that I had previously scanned. I will post newer ones
1 and 2 are just some very old doodles.
3 and 4 are an alien landscape 3 my sketch, 4 after some digital work.
5,6,7 tinkerbell, anime girl w/necklace, grim reaper.
8 someone asked me to draw something for their friend Storm who liked bikes.
9 a still life plant
10 still life? she was asleep. Bad likeness but I like the sketch.
11,12 13 from reference, alien, some more doodles (cat).
OK some new stuff.
First some thoughts on a chow I didn't enter or come anywhere near finished,
Second sketch ref. from a magazine cover tried to do digitaly,
Third a sketch of an interesting outdoor seating area.
Forth some trees nearby,
and last a scenic view from my mind.
i like how your art reflects the time you put into them very cool all of them are cool!
It is hard to keep up with this sketchbook stuff but I will keep trying.
These are just some sketches, freehand copies while looking at my reference.
Some of these images you might recognize, posters or coupons or money and some from a magazine.
O.K. still drawing just hard to scan and keep up on a daily basis but I will
post here as I scan it in. This is my work towards my submission to 3ch#42.
OK, had some time to do some scans.
These are some sketches, concepts that I was considering when I did 3ch#43.
GO, LOOK, SEE...3ch#43

Oh well guess Ive been doing to much sketching not enough scanning and posting. At least not in my sketchbook.
some test sketches and then my finals for 3CH#44 and NOW#3.
That's the random topic challenge and Nightmare of the week.
Oh if you are wondering yes that is Grimm Reaper in the space port with the steam powered panda.
I will try to post more later. (there are bills to pay)
OK some more posts, if only the pictures would scan and crop themselves.
These are just some gestures, and doodles.
Hope I am not posting these to large.
Ok time for an update. Some sketches for
3ch# 45 A little monkey runs from an angel in the cavern of howling death
3ch# 46 A scaly woman with wine runs across a servant in the midwest.
I will try to do more later tonight and maybe download some sketches not just challenges.
Last update of the night.
3ch# 47 A black toadstool slips under a hippie in the kitchen. and
one I wanted to do more with but just to little time.
3ch#48 a delerious Portrait of yourself as an alien leader
Ok have not been posting much but I have been drawing.
I miss 3ch and when it was closed down I thought of putting up one last sketch.
I guess it is telling for 3ch that I never finished here are my sketches for the death of 3ch. I was planning on doing more visitors to the grave but never got that far.

OK, keep drawing, keep posting.
random people, lacrosse practice, some imagination.
Ok not my best but I am drawing and posting.
Next I will put up some thoughts on some of the DSGs and CHOW
Ok, Ok so darn lazy. Just scan the pictures in and I can't even do that.
Oh well lets get back on track. Need the deadlines to keep my focus.
Here is my entry for CHOW 121.
you need to break things down into shape and then build upon things. for example, concentrate on circles, squares, cylinders, etc rather than actual form for a while and then build things up. it sounds retarded but just doing that for a while does wonders.
More updates, some sketches I was working on following the Chow.
Nibru the artist
OK, back again, if only scanning and uploading was automatic.
Some sketches from the what do you look like thread and draw from what do you look like thread
Some amazing faces in the WDELL thread but I am
just not yet ready to post my picture on the internet.
Maybe I will work up the nerve and then move these there.
Some sketches from the WDELL thread and one in color.
The one in color I was fiddling, trying some of the techniques from
the "Digital Painting In PS #2" thread by bumskee
sup trp nice sketchbook here man your gona trip once a year pasts by and you look at your old work. Just draw everyday and try to update your sketchbook everyday and youl get good no matter what. Not sure if you in it or not but you should join the crimson daggers were like a group of artists that study together and get feed back from each other.
other then that i suggest you get yourself some figure drawing book like Bridgemen and Loomis i think there are some free ones on the net some were just seach on google or something and copy them front to back.
Ill be looking forward to seeing how you progress man
have a good one
