My name is Tamires and I'm a design student! I noticed lately I've been lacking some technical stuff on my latest works and I decided to start a sketchbook challenge for myself so as to brush up on some basic skills. So, the big issue I'm facing when making a painting is thinking 3D, letting go of the lineart and sketching with color, like getting all the hues and working on values... I have always painted in black&white to establish the values first, then I use the layer modes on PS to color it, but the colors have been like greyish for some time and it's really bugging me... Aaaand I wanna start painting on Painter because of its traditional feel.
So, my rules are:
Deadline: December 31st
Subjects: Heads, Arms, Hands, Torsos, Feet, Legs, Interiors, Exteriors/Landscapes, Texture, Perspective and Machinery.
-I have to paint 50 of each subject.
-I must always use reference.
-I must paint on Painter and use strictly colors, no value sketching for this one.
-I must always block in shapes and use no lineart.
-I must spend no longer than 20 minutes on each painting.
-I must always spend 10 minutes with warm up exercises.
My old stuff comes first, the four last ones are the latest studies. Please, crit! And if you want, I can crit your stuff too let's improve together!
Hey, guys! So, I've been trying to improve my silhouettes by going to www.posemaniacs.com and spending some time doing this stuff. Really relaxing. I spent some time playing with some ink brushes, so...
I think I've improved so far, it took so long for conceptart.org to release my SB page XD hahah
Didn't do much... I'm working on this game project doing some environmental stuff, so I didn't really have time :X o god. Ths first one is 'Arcos da Lapa', in Rio de Janeiro where I live. The game designer asked for this. The other is some random silhouettes I made... Kinda liked those, for a change. XD
blah. nothing more to say. I know its kinda big but...
Oh, thanks a lot! ^^ I use posemaniacs mostly because its 30 second poses... is there anything like that on those?
Sweet! I'll use this from this moment forward. XD Thaaaanks!
I haven't been updating lately because I ran out of internet this weekend, so... but that doesn't mean I haven't done anything well, lately I've been worrying too much about rendering and more technical stuff and I feel my drawings lost a lot of its gesture, soo... I came back in time and made a bunch of these. Still trying to figure out good settings for gesturing with Painter... and also, I gotta make my brush strokes flow more rapidly, instintively. On paper I achieve that (specially with a brush) but on Painter is a bit more tough.
Also, I'm trying to make silhouettes and give up line drawing... Sorta miss the last one, gives much control on your drawing. And I'm aware that, if my drawing sucks, most probably my painting will suck too. Well, back to the drawing table(t)! ^^
So, I'm starting to get my drawing to look more loose than before and I'm happy about it. Next, I'll try to dig in some perspective and enviroment thumbs so that I can start to imagine things in a 3D space. It's daaaamn difficult for me, buut... I think I can do it. Please comment, I really could use some help here!!
Wow you have a lot of nice pieces here especially the paintings! One thing though is if your doing silhouettes, you might want to try a hard round brush in Photoshop with the brush size set to pen pressure. Also if you want to improve your line quality I might make the switch to ballpoint or felt tip pen, kind of did the trick for me.
Thanks ^^ I was trying to kinda move up to Painter and, about the silhouettes, I use the scratchboard tool for doing these, it has the size set to pen pressure but I've been having a hard time controlling the tablet. But thanks anyhow!
Hey, guys! I'm really happy because today was a veeery productive day sketchbookly speaking, and I managed to fill lots of pages. I'll upload just the cool ones cuz I'm lazy Started watchin Sinix's videos, he's reeeeally good! I really enjoy the looseness of his work. So, that's it! Thanks as always and keep critting!

So, I've been doing a bunch of different stuff xD
Here's some panels I've been colouring for Josh, at http://jbusch30.deviantart.com/. The lineart was made by him. ^^ I've updated some stuff from my game, developing more environments... Hope you like it! Crit always, please!
Man! Sorry for disappearing for so long The game project I'm in is literally KILLING my spare time, so I couldn't post anything 'till now. But that doesn't mean I didn't draw! I drew, A LOT! Trying to improve my sketching AND my painting, but I didn't paint much =\ unfortunately.... well, here are some samples of me fooling around when I wasn't working...
Crits very welcome!
Some traditional sketchbook stuff... god, I loooove ink!
just some 20 min doodles
more 20 min doodles
more and more doodles this time with Painter 12
Soooo, long time no post!
Last week I had a big English proficiency test which by the way I passed, but there was no time for posting stuff, then here it goes!
Some unfinished IoW, EoW and thumbs... AND a CHOW that was kind of fun to start doing but then it wasn't going so much realistic and I had some problems with the lighting...
A speedie for my boyfriend
Digi paints are getting better, I would do more lifedrawings and studies!
Thanks! I'm sketching daily traditionally but I don't have enough time to upload, but thanks for the tips! I'm currently doing some still lives, do you think I could jump to figures?
Oh man, almost a year without posting. That's really terrible, I'll try to keep on posting stuff now that I have more time in hands.
Lots of diff subject matters, going to work well in your future. Keep at it looking good to me.
