I'm diggin' the graphik schiele thing you got goin' on here. Lot of power and creepy sensuality. Nice.
If you're willing to entertain a crit, I would recommend a little more life drawing and doing the Bridgman thing... copying his anatomy books over into your notebooks line for line. This activity tends to accelerate progress in talented artists.
I'm also a little bit disturbed by the kiddie porn stuff, but hey, its a free country.
On technique, pencil isn't great for cross hatching to create tone, especially when you can just smear the pencil and that gives you a nice soft even tone which contrasts with harder edged lines elsewhere. (see frazetta's stuff from illustrations arcanum, for instance)

i'm currently reading bridgman's complete guide to drawing from life, master class in figure drawing by robert hale, and the human figure by vanderpoel. ive been going about them slowly to make sure that i'm not just reading over the words, but that i'm comprehending what is being said.Originally Posted by kev ferrara

this may sound awkward to those who havent had the experience, but Art School really detracts a lot of time away from creating art. thing like 'learning anatomy' are aspects you do on your own time outside of projects. its frusterating how derailed the education process gets away from the act of creating, theres times when i dont touch my sketchbook for weeks in relation to classroom projects. the truly sad part is the number of life drawing classes i have already taken and passed, just because the standard is so low (and most art schools are diploma factories), where i didnt actually learn anything and all my time in front of models was basically wasted effort because i was doing things ass-backwards.
heh, im surprised this wasn't mentioned before. i was involved in a printmaking group edition swap where we all did a sexual theme motif. some people did homo-erotica, masturbation, passion, lust, fetishes, etc. my subject was molestation, which given the topic i feel i handled fairly tastefully. where because of a sequential format what isn't seen is more disturbing than what is seen. the image posted here was a digital mock-up that i later made into a screenprint, which looks about the same.I'm also a little bit disturbed by the kiddie porn stuff, but hey, its a free country.

here's a sideproject i whipped out today:
416 2x2 inch painted cardboard squares.
not sure where i'm going to put it yet, there's a lot of empty bulletin boards on campus that could use the asskickery of megaman.
a month of unproductive winter vacation has come to an end.
i discovered i need to be isolated to produce work, otherwise ideas will come and no focus will allow the creative outlet to give fruition to the concept.
i am unable to tell if i'm learning anything and my explorations merit any answers. i am burning with passion for art, and aching to rape my sketchbook.
i'm anxious about my own productivity, as though for the first time i do not have anyone leering over my work, restricting my subject matter and method.
somewhere along my art education process i became a total pussy. no longer with the intensity and anger of which i used to attack my blank pages. i slowed my rate of work, bit my tongue and did what was asked of me, never fully investing my own motivation into my school work. a dichotomy which has hurt my growth as an artist.
i'm close to graduation, with minimal art classes left to tackle. 2008 is exciting to me, i have no idea where i'll end up, where my newfound free time will take my work.

Very hip graphic design style you have going. I too like the punkier stuff over the anime influences. Am I mistaken to think I recognize some Suicide Girls? Keep up the good work, more vandalism!
a direct pose ripped off an anime pic,
scrambled with Nihei~esque character design,
squeezed through a juicing machine to get rid of depth and tone,
spaghetti strain to remove color,
add three pinches of emo,
scrub away countour lines,
screw up anatomy of feet and try hideous wings,
blend with splatter brushes and thin scratchy lines,
serve with alcohol
another in this stylization, only this time i cheated and did it as a digital photocollage. it was a lot easier to achieve the same relative look without illustrating every aspect, but less rewarding.
i'll probably re-work this into something more complex and satisfying. more of a design layout practice than figure illustration.

You are one of my favourite artists here one CA. Love the variety in your work.
Not so much of a critique, more of an observation, it seems like a lot of your work is stuck halfway between realistic design and abstract design. In posts 71, 74 & 75 there appears to be enough detail so that the pieces achieve a level of realistic design, but the way the figures are proportioned make the piece look very abstract and cartoony. It gives me a weird, "is this suppose to be real or cartoon" feeling and as a result seems to lend itself towards an amateurish quality and implants in my head questions as to whether or not you know how to draw (which isn't a good thing).
Remedies for this would be to study anatomy and proportions like has been mentioned. However, alternatively and oppositely maybe you could try experimenting with shapes instead of easily identifiable objects (legs, arms, eyes). Use a shape to define the body or the eye instead of trying to make something look exactly right.
I have no idea what I'm talking about though. Just admiring your work and had to justify this post with some random observation.
