what can I say but, SUPER COOL!
what can I say but, SUPER COOL!
Maaan, I'm hooked on this story. That's not flatter, I don't flatter anyways. What a suspense! I read it before when you posted with big size images and I'm so glad you made the pictures smaller, because it helped me to appreciate the story more. Pictures help a lot. They increase this gruesome, mysterious, dark, unsettling sensation from words.
Just look at body language of the characters. The pale girl laying down, thin as a list of paper, like a ghost, being almost devoured by blackness of ink already. Not a human anymore, just a spirit. Only slight rise of her bosom, like a wave on the paper reminds the human form.
Looking on next: main character is avoiding any contact, looking the other way, no one's actually looking straight in the eyes. They are very elusive, unreliable, complex people. Opportunists. People without roots in any country or any spot on earth, rolling stones.
I wonder, I really, really wonder ( because I'm badly curious) what makes them to be on the road again. What happened... Somehow I think it is not somebodies big fortune, although it is so classic, never boring story: a naive heir with mind blowing, sudden inheritance and greedy vultures around her. But somehow I think it is not the case here. I think it is some crazy, unreasonable idea or vendetta moving those people. Or maybe it is a very unusual family, surviving on literally sucking blood from people who falling victims to their charm.
Well anyway. I'm not totally sure but I think this lovely young woman has a criminal mind and passionate, better say obsessed heart. She is much more charismatic than her companion, she has an assurance and confidence and force in her figure, he looks lost and very pale, submissive in his pose and the eyes not looking up. I wonder about the strange arrangement between her, her sister (the lucky one?) and her father. They all are very strange. Going down with father? literally? spiritually? I want to know, you can't drop me in the middle of nowhere now, black frog. ' Mais tu ne dois pas l’oublier. Tu deviens responsable pour toujours de ce que tu as apprivoisé.'
Long sharp shadows help to get in certain mood, of something very extreme happening.
I would add some crits. I think you transformed the first and second picture, they look elongated and stretched a bit more than eyes recognize as believable. I can understand why you did it in the first picture but in the second it makes the perspective and reality too distorted.
It is your way of course, but that's what I think.
P.S. I like that I can't definitely see what is hiding in those shadows and darkness of the shapes. It is suggestive, appeals to my imagination.

Do you like glenn Barr? your subject and colors here look really simeler if you don't know him check him out.
hello, me again . I think the image with H. and a Clothilde talking in the room with Victorian curtains is much better after changes.
And I like how you showed volume of those curtains in the last page, the plumpness of them and form. Lovely and very recognizable, surprisingly recognizable with this minimalistic manner. It's witty.
I like that you lightened up images just a little and the objects, paintings in heavy frames on walls and some silhouettes reappeared, that was interesting to see new details suddenly in the same image.
But... you added a new page, the second one. And I have to say I looked and looked and can't recognize what it is in the picture. I see some hand twisted, or I see woman chin, some dramatic gesture, but I can't connect it all, and the egg-like shape with numbers 27 is confusing me a lot. I thought it might be a hammer at first, you know like when house or furniture being auctioned to pay debts or something. But really it is hard for me to see what it is.
I thought I'd better tell you for future pages and for this image in particularly. For my and your own benefit.
As always you have an upper hand in your art, I'm just sitting in an audience.

Haven't been around for quite some time.
Just thought since I'm invited as an instructor to the next Massive Black Workshop funfest in New Zealand I might as well give you a run down on my latest news.
Soooo... as some of you already know, since last time we spoke, I've finished 2 three hundred pages graphic novels (they will come out at the end of the year in europe - translated 4 months later in English for you guys in the states if all goes well) plus some goodies like posters, post cards, ex-libris and the like...
For the ones who didn't get to see the thing when I was posting it live here's a sampler of the first comic and some of the PR posters for it.
more news later on
hope you like it
Take good care
