Last nights scribbling, personal work, about 7 hours... Reference used obviously. All textures are built up from scratch in PS using various custom brushes. When I started, I thought I'd do a quick 1 hour sketch, but as the picture progressed, I felt stronger for it ... so I spent the extra time to render the details as well. My inspiration was a warm romantic feeling, and I think I managed to pull it off. I started painting with very saturated blue and red colors, but eventually I felt it didn't look right. Last stage was to give it a yellow grade, think it helps a lot.
I liked the simplicity of the architecture, it gives it almost an unreal contrast in the relationship between the warm colors and the rather flat look of the composition. This was very appealing to me. So rather than pushing the "romantic" concept further, I wanted to sort of stay within the limits of the angular look of the geometry, and the soft look of the lights.
