WTF!!!! Not sure what that last bunch of posts mean...and I'm not one to enjoy a pic of dead animals but i must say the majority of your work is fantastic. Tons of creativity in whatever direction you seem to go. Would love to see more painting and process work...
edit-- Okay so i finaaly figured out that his "sketchbook" was moved to here from the finished section (where it does seem to fit better). Maybe it was just for the variety of work and the difficulty to place it in any specific forum.
As long as he keeps creating I could care less where they put it...I'll find it (even if I kinda do agree that some of this stuff falls out of what I consider art. Hell, they are cool anyways)

The impetus was to remind us all that we should find inspiration outside of our peers. Exactly as you suggest.
this work is far from unique in the world of art as a whole , it goes back farther than Francis bacon…. all manner of German/French surrealist painters and eyeball slicing filmmakers at the dawn of “modern psychological theory”… a little Ivan Albright , dash of Mapplethorpe, too
BUT is VERY, VERY refreshing in the context of concept design. there is not ONE “3/4 angle future gasmask rifle soldier” on this thread. Hey, I draw’em too)
if I saw these images in a film trailer for instance … I would be amped and refreshed and despite the discussion on its myriad influences, find it far less incestuously derivative than
“The return of gas mask Joe” (although id probably stand in line to see that too)
We are paid to imagine .
I think the artist is free to express whatever he feels. I see some amazing talent in this thread, and I don't understand how some people can fail to appreciate that. Those that are offended by this type of work should know by the thread avatar not to look here. Art is all about expression, passion, and creativity, and this artist displays each of those as well as anyone I've seen here, even if some of the subject matter is controversial.
As far as the thread being moved, the moderators of this forum have the right to categorize threads as they see fit, without having to provide an explanation. I think it's a privilege to be able to post artwork here. I can understand your frustration, but I don't think flooding the pages in this thread will be helpful. You're an amazing artist and I know there are a lot of people here that respect your skill and vision and will find your thread wherever it is. I know I will keep checking back to see more of your work. No one can stop you from creating or take away your freedom to express yourself.
pretty please plus infinite..
wow. Just went through the entire sketchbook for the first time.
Much respect to your anatomy skills. And the facial expression of the guy piping the ballerina in the first post- haha- is hilarious. I hope I don't look like that when I handle business.
I think I enjoy most your sculptures and your traditional chinese paintings.
Oh- and live cats are better than dead cats.
"Afraid not of none of you cowards but of my own strength"
Andy Warhol insprired text posts lately?
I like how after the 100+ posts of the same question the first responce was "what are you asking?" LOL
I also find it ironic this artist laughs at anyone who gets emotional over his work, but throws a hissy fit over having a thread moved. I have a feeling he isnt very stable. pld: who knew?
Yours works are truly interesting! I find them very originates .

Because the amount of work here is more like flipping through someone's portfolio/sketchbook rather than showcasing a couple of new pieces (which I think the finally finished section is for?). Very nice work, broad range of stuff and I like a lot of it! Just get rid of the posts where you've had a temper tantrum 'why has this been moved' x100, it detracts from your work IMO.Originally Posted by Wanimal
Quite a character you are (and it shows in your work too), hahaha. Hey man, think of it as this. In the sketchbook forum, you'll most likely get 5x more views than you ever did in the finished section. Seriously. There's like a 10 fold increase in viewers in this part of the forum compared to the finished during any given part of any given day. Even now at 3:30 AM.
wanimal - i don't know where all this intense stuff belongs. seems to me it was fine in the finally finished, but no less so here. i think you could show your work in a public toilet and it would still look amazing. just keep on busting your stuff out. one of my favourite threads on CA
check the Tensai Tokyo Sketch Thread (Sketchbook)
check the Tensai Cityscapes Thread (Finally Finished)

I'm new, so this took me a while to look through. Whoa! You have an amazing craftsmanship. As for subject matter? You're bloody weird mate, but you would expect that from a genius :p
I remember reading your first dump of drawings in this thread. A bit shocking, but some bloody good drawing technique.
Obviously as I'm at work I had to start at the last post and work backwards through the thread, so I really don't understand what all the hubub is all about as I've read it all in reverse. I would like to say this though, "It's a cat, it's dead. Whoopie-do." I've seen far worse imagery hailed as great works of art. A cow sawn in half and mounted in two glass cases. Someones bed with soiled sheets from several sex sessions (female British artist, can't remember her name). At least it is better than the "light-bulb blinking in a room" that won the bloody Turner prise a few years back.
Anyway, I think that Mr Manley and his colleague have supplied another forum (General discussion) where this sort of conversation needs to be carried out. This is Wanimals sketch book, not a dumping ground for other peoples views and beliefs. Let him get on with his art, keep the comments to the content and not on the person creating it. One persons art is not another's, but lets let everyone express themselves freely.
post her naked!
but seriously, i really enjoy your Sb.
some things are hit and miss, but its always interesting and fun to look through.
reminds me to experiment more
u wanted ur way all the time in ur territory
i have no objections
Nice girlfriend you have and very skillful work. Dont worry about moving the thread to the sketchbook section, there you have less limitations.
BTW, you could comment on people writing in your thread, it will make you more popular.
