Well hello! Lookit all these replies, and oh wow! I have stars!!! Thanks so much all!
RandAlThor - Thanks man!
Maoi - Haha, thanks muchly! yeah, such a gorgeous head would look great on either body really, I've always had this hidden love for humanoid-ish critters with lots of fur though, heehee.
Haha, oh dear, I see what you mean about the critters in post #42! I was planning on doing a smallest to biggest format anyways, but now I'll definitely have to fix that.
((Oh btw, I'm really loving you're COW yellow-bloodsucker ))
Arn J. Thanks!
TheGnoll - Well hey, thanks for stopping by! and for the nice compliment as well.
zweiDee - Thanks muchly
The Benito 91 - Well welcome to conceptart.org there, I think you might be in the wrong section for that question, but I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 if that helps any.
Camara - Thanks!
Piranha Clan - Haha, yup! Only 17 as of this last April. I'll definitely be seeing about drawing more humans as well .
BohemianChaos - Why thank you!
RaistlinTheDark - Glad to hear it! thanks for the comment again...
shyamshriram - Thanks!
R1o7even - That's good to know, I'm always happy to hear my art is inspiring thanks!
Master_Aerethos - Thanks mate!
M.A.L - Thanks!
hurricane - Hey, thanks so much for dropping by! And for the awesome comment, it's great to hear, espeicially coming from someone of your talents
Arn J. - Awesomeness! A fellow creature artist who's my age as well... yeah, I'd love to chat as well, I've got e-mail, AIM, MSN messegner, feel free to hunt me down, I'm online alot in the evenings.
Christian223 - Haha, yup, only 17. I think having an older sister who is just as good at art, if not better, gave me needed competition to get me working at being a better artist. Thanks for the comment!
NightMare28 - Thanks!
Smokey186 - Haha, very good! Caskin is pleased.
PAGE 2! WOOT!!!
Sketches from recently! I'm being hit with artistic overload, where a million ideas come at once but they fly so fast I can't pick on to settle on and draw.
#1 - Squishy-fish.... a random doodle from yesterday.
#2 - I have decided learning to draw the horse would be a valuable asset, and they've given me such trouble before too. So I grabbed my sister's Dover Saddlery magazine and started sketching some of the horses from the visual examples. The two of us can have horse drawing competitions now. (She is a phenomenal artist by the way, check out her stuff: http://idlewild202.deviantart.com/gallery/)
#3 - I've been experimenting with using more conformation ideas to create unique creature designs. Thought I'd sketch out some comparison conformation to show what differences there can be. Not a very polished sketch unfourtunately, and I have terrible hand-writing on the tablet!
Amazing art here.
We are of same age round about... but your skills outclass mine.
It's great too see your at.. really
Amazing work. *will stalk tread.* Is it okay to pet the Squishy-fish, or does it bite.
Don't you wish you could save those ideas for when you feel uninspired? I do.Sketches from recently! I'm being hit with artistic overload, where a million ideas come at once but they fly so fast I can't pick on to settle on and draw.
Anyway, that squishy fish is a breakthrough for you, at least judging from what I've seen you do earlier. It is something completely and 100% different from anything you've done before, and you pulled it off great! The form, the texture, the movement, all perfect. Nice job.
Neat idea with the comparisons. I may have to try that sometime.
Hive_minD - Thanks man!
Tikeo - I dunno, he might, looks pretty friendly to me though
Moai - Yes definitely, if only they could be filed away so easily, but nooooo, it's always gotta be all at once or none at all
Thanks man! I'm actually really surprised with how nice it's looking, got an update on it too, check it out!
Update on Squishy-fish.................... why the hell am I calling it squishy-fish?
good improvement on colors!
keep it up
Moai - Sharp highlights, will do
frostsnake - Thanks muchly!
Ok, just thought I'd throw in a quick update and then go make the most of crit week.
Mostly simple sketches from the past few weeks, I'm so terrible about updating XD I need to find me a SSG or something....
I also just realized how terrible my scanner is at washing things out.
#1: on the IMDB Transformers me and another guy started getting creative and spawned the idea for 4 transformers horse-bots of the apocalypse, so this a sketch of one of them in robot mode. Yeah, I turned transformer geek as the movie came out.
#2: another tranformers robot, the legs are kinda wonky though. Call it a practice in textures if you will.
#3: Got a brand new sketchbook! First drawing in it.
#4: My scanner absolutely ate this one, oh well. Had mega trouble with figuring the perspective on that hind-leg.
#5: More doodles.
#6: An attempt at hard-surfaced metals, really feels like a rip of other peoples styles though, still practicing! And the critter that the arm belongs to in the background, too scribbly methinks...
Yet another awesome and inspiring update! I particularly love the scaled creature and the creature right below him. The scaled guy is one heckofa great creature design, and I think I'm going to have to blatantly copy his scale pattern for a creature of my own. The creature under him has a great pose, and I like the subtle markings on his head and neck. I too have struggled with the back legs in poses such as this. One crit on your creatures: I encourage you once again to move away from these four-legged dragon types with small pointy faces. They look good, but I'd like to see more variety.
As for the transformers, the first one looks very rushed and sloppy, to be perfectly blunt. The second one looks much better. I particularly like the way you designed its feet. More little design elements I'm going to have to steal for my own work.
Keep up the great artwork! I'll be waiting for the next update.
Its great to see a young artist with such great skill, even younger than me. It seems Creature Art is your speciality. I'm not a big fan of Creature art but yours are great. Plus you were introduce with Photoshop at a young age. What would be great if you put your creatures in an eviorment to make em more lively.
great stuff as usual. That squishy scaly thing looks pretty cool, but i agree about the highlights suggestions, would help the "wet" look.
Make sure you also practice drawing humans and other subjects once in a while, that can help the creative process
those transformers thinghies, those look pretty good.I like no2...
Wow, I'm absolutely humbled by one of my peers.
Love the creature designs, I just wanted to say you've inspired me.
Keep up the good work, I wish I had something useful to say.

*there is no ipod, actually. sorry
wow cool stuff, you really know what your doing when it comes to creative anatomy and imbuing figures with a sense of weight and mass.
Wow, fantastic drawings and studies, love the animals. Very nice sense of movement. Love them. Can't wait until you start palying with other kinds of anatomy. And the throughout descriptions of the different animals.
And damn, just read that you're just 17. Keep this up dammit!
you've got an excellent imagination dude, i'm loving these creatures. it's good to see that you've spent some time dealing with way to give them belieable anatomy; i like the dragon studies particulary. can't wait to see more!
Great sketchbook you have here. I'm really impressed with those creatures. Animal anatomy is something I have left for myself in the future, haha. The more polished ones look neat! People in this forum never stop to amaze me, doing this kind of stuff at this age. Inspirational to see.
heh, dint realise you were 17 either..... puts my stuff to shame.
should update my own sketch book!
Lovely stuff! Really great creature designs, though I'd like to see more figurework too. Your creatures remind me a lot of Todd Lockwood's work, which is a huge compliment btw.
Just wanted to drop a post and say that im stumped by the new content in your sb, and I reckon Moai has been giving you some pretty solid advice aswell. I haven't posted in a while because I wasn't sure on what to comment and thought you were(are) going in a positive direction so I guess I'll break the ice
I saw transformers last week and was blown away by the CG quality, loved it to bits, that and im a sucker for robots, and I can see the fingers, sharp surgical interior shapes on the second robot really showing the decepticons kind of profile, you have a good eye , the rendering on the legs in particular and the battlescars are also well done!
One little thing though im interested about is this creature with its neck twisted around so far, it feels very awkward, that and the hard scales on its back dont seem to taper too well along the back of the neck to promote that sortof position, just a thought.
One suggestion I'd like to make, is that since you're into animal studies and you've extensively observed them, maybe insects/anthropods would be a good line of anatomy to study with regards to fauna, some of the most fascinating things come from the smallest life on this planet and I reckon itd be a chest full of ideas to create new creatures with, I was thinking more along the lines of the anatomy of their exoskeletons, how they walk/run/move, eat, their mandibles in particular, on some insects might be worth looking into since some of your creatures have mandible-like 'second' jaws. Anyway, just trying to go along with Moai's encouragement as an alternative to the 4 legged dragon creatures .

Allrighty all, before we get down to art business I just had to show off my new baby... he's a male Crested Gecko, still a little guy, who I picked up at the Rocky Mountain Reptile Expo this last Saturday. I love him to pieces! he's just downright adorable
Just wanted to show him off since I'm so happy to finally have a Crestie of my own XD.
Moai - I will definitely try and branch out in more variety with my critters! And what I draw overall as well. I'm stuck in my little comfort zone that I need to get out of allready XD. Thanks for the comment too!
Micaiah Nelson - Thanks! I'll definitely see about getting some more enviro's in here somehow.

Fafnir - Heya Fafnir! good to see you drop in again. I like your idea for trying out some insect designs, I might just have to give that a shot. Thanks for stopping by!
Carnifex - Awesome to know I've been an inspiration! Thanks for the comment too.
Alright, just a few sketches for today, I think my sketches are improving though, they still tend towards chaos though XD.
#1: This is what it looks like when I freehand people! Kinda sucky yeah, but it could be worse I guess, I need some references is what I need.
#2: Was going with Maoi's advice of trying something new, so I got this book on birds we have and sketched a few of the photos in there. I always thought my feathered wings needed work, this is a good chance to improve them.
#3: Ideas for the Teen Challenge: Alien Mount and Rider, we'll see if I have the dedication to finish it off in time.
#4: Drawing our cats and dog from life, our one tuxedo cat didn't want to sit still.
#6: Update on my black 'n' white wolfish guy, the shoulder wasn't working for me, will try and fix it. I almost want to extend the white into a half-way collar up the neck, what do ya'll think?
cool creature concepts like the horse ones hehe ... i hope to se more human work or i dont know maybe you can combine bouth what do ya think
ok this is all for now il be aching your updates ... i hope verry often
Wow! You have some really cool concepts and sketches, they look great and really inspires me.
