Two birds with one stone, figure study and homework
I love that piece you've used for you avatar! I love it when people take anatomy reference and turn it into something wicked like that.
You've done so many figure drawings, and the effort shows for sure.
Keep it up!
Really nice stuff. It' amazing how much you improve. Love that skin-exploding dame (the one you currently use as your avatar). Also, your shading is great in you last posts. Although in some earlier sketches your legs look a little short. Overall good job! Keep it up!
Here is my lil site
Well, kinda. It was my final project for my web design class. it has placeholder text for the homepage and such and there are a few mistakes;
- The flash file at the beginning has a nasty little white stripe on the left side (also it takes a while to load, just wait for a while)
- The splash page is too large, scroll down to see the enter button
- The inside pages don't seem to be centred
- the music is not mine or free to use (my favorite song of all time by the way, McBrides by Leahy), but this site isn't going to be used for actual self-promotion so I won't have to worry.
- The music loops and plays over itself, stupid me not setting a certain thing in flash.
other than that I'm pretty happy with it. Was made basically from scratch (I sampled some free images for textures and stuff) using photoshop, fireworks and dreamweaver. Crits on the design and such are obviously welcome.
EDIT: oh, and I have quite a few more worthwhile things to put in my design 'portfolio' page, but the ones in there were the only ones I still had on the server at school. We do more than photomanips :p

great sb so far man. i really like your anatomy and tone studies.
You're really improving much. I like those muscle studies, especially the "exploding" ones. You 'still got some balancing and anatomy issues (especially on the non referenced stuff) but im sure you will get rid of em soon. Nice shading
affluxing heart - Thanks mister. You don't happen to frequent the Elderscrolls forums do you? Your style looks very familiar.
nuki - Glad to hear I'm progressing. The eploding muscle thing was quite a hit, except for with my drawing techer. Aparently it's too complicated and I should have done more simple subjects As for anatomy issues, man oh man I know. One of the problem areas (that I'm concious of) is the hips and leg areas. I'm just guessing when it comes to it so....
I'm cracking open my anatomy book and doing muscle studeis, the right way this time (no more stylized references or 'explodiness') Here's the fist batch for the trunk -
I just have to say, your progress is inspiring to say the least. It may be high time for me to get on my sherpa and ride, or at least for me to plug the scanner back in and start my own sketchbook on ConceptArt.
Thanks for sharing it all, and I look forward to your future updates! You've really come along!
Mm, nice progress here.
With the muscle studies, keep your head with it, remember what you're drawing all the time. Make 'em so damn correct, rather than somewhat there and somewhat rendered.
Thanks for stopping by my SB, I didnt have time to return the favor last night! You have some very inspiring progress, and great rendering throughout. I'd say my favorite piece is in post#82 (girl with skin flaying away). Very creepy, very good pose for it.
Keep it up, and thanks for the helpful crits!
Farsight - Much thanks It's never too late to get back into it, fire up that scanner and I'll be looking for your SB
dmitri - Thanks, for the 'first' study I did it had a much more detailed ref. The muscle studies I do with multiple studies on one page have really basicly drawn refs, so I'm not really concerned as much with drawing exactly what I see (getting all the detail in), as long as I can put the muscles where they're supposed to go. But I took your advice and did my first pic (the one with the good ref) making sure the placment was correct
iMaiM - No prob, thanks, and yeah, Little Miss Skull Panties will be hard to beat, but the shade princess is so far my favorite
More muscle studies, back this time
And going on you are, good!
Though, if you are going to render them, I'd still recommend doing it a bit cleaner. At least as an outsider viewing them, there's some unclarity in the shapes and placings of the muscles.
How do you go about studying these muscles?
