um so here where i am with that painting just a few small things to do like the ear the hair highlights and the hand, gunna try my luck and send it off to an art prize
LOVE IT. although now that you half rendered the thighs it looks sorta weird with the outline....makes it look more flat than the rest of her body also the end of where you can see her right arms (the one infront) where the elbow meets the thigh in front...it looks a bit "off" you might want to have a look at that area
I hope that helps a bit good luck with for the prize!!!
You found me on myspace, so I had to find you here. Figures, I instantly recognized your avatar once I found you... I really really love your figurative paintings. Do you always work from an underpainting, or just sketch it first separately? I'm currently learning oils myself.
Are you exhibiting your work in addition to being a concept artist? What kinda stuff are you working on professionally?
(sorry for all the questions!!)
Janae aka Gypsy Eyes/BohemianChaos

Oi and where are your updates hmm, i belive you told me tomorrow 3 times now
just some more on the train sketches
Beautiful hatching!! The expressions of your characters are so realistic, especially in you painting. It seems that you don't erase any line in your sketches, did I get it right? Love the the roughness though.
fucking freaking great painting and sketches. the last one is one of my favs, always nice to see updates in here. are your have reference? and what for oil colors you use?
UnSharpened - hey thanks a lot mate glad u like em yeah i dont do any erasing, i think it slows me down and makes me think too much when im sketching (does that make sense )
zweiDee - hey bud cheers sometimes i use ref but its from life lke people i see on the train etc, i found once ive drawn someones face a few time i can make it up after that..
Um oils? I dont have a set palet i usually just mix what ever i need for the part im painting, having said that australian grey, mars black, burnt sienna are always in my pallette um i can think of the names of the others but il write down all the paints in my kit when i get home for the next post
_^SlayeR^_ - haha hey mate

_^SlayeR^_ - haha im discovered! ok ok il send u all autohatching 1.2
kinnas - haha um thanks? i think
just another few quick ones
your pencils are beautiful
the tight correctness of the underlying drawing contrasted with the soaring freedom of such loose rendering has an incredibly immense impact. The smart controlled darks of the smallest crevices and niches contrasting against the larger areas of value, loosely sketched upon the base drawing which then contrasts again with the well placed unmarked highlights is just so compelling.
if anything I'd maybe like to see how the impact would change if the highlights were widened somewhat, to have less of unified gray areas and brake them up with larger white areas, to have them more glossy basically. but that's another direction in itself.
fuck, I'm totally in love with that loose rendering.
haaa nice Painting man....really delicious and seductive in many ways.
Lovely linework as always....
WAt can I say..
best of luck with the exhibition and stuf man.
i'm loving that pencil loving.
