here is my WIP a lil further along, not much, but im beginning to understand kinda this color and lighting thing.
Can't get onto page one, but this last one is killer. Great atmosphere, feels like a movie still. Think you can push the contrast a tad to create a more definitive focal point, but not too much. Killer stuff man
Ah no worries mate, just worked. Some threads are loading really slow - must be part of the problem.
Anyways just checked out page 1 it rocks dude. Really like that CHOW entry, should go there more. Spacemarine is also looking great. Thanx for sharing - really inspiring stuff. Have some stars mate
Hey marco, I never saw your first sketch book, but this stuff is great, I specially like that monkey in your first post.. Also that mech you did at work on the back of some copy paper is freekin awesome.
Hey.... What markers do you use? I've never used markers before probly because I can only member bad experiences from art class in like 3rd or 4th grade with the cheapo smelly markers... But I like the look and wanna get me some... Oh wait Edit: dont wanna get me some smelly markers, but some good ones. yeah thats better.
your enviros are looking good man. Did the gnomon DVDs help much? Im thinking about getting some.
DUDE. That space Marine design is sick. By sick I mean damn good, real fucking good.
demented- thanx man, im diggin the black and white studies in your sketchbook.
wafflehouse- haha, yea man, the gnomon shizznit is workin like a charm, but then again, its all about how much you put into it also.
Mr- Joe i use prizmacolor markers, which cost a god aweful amount of money, unfortunately.
strych- thanx man, i appreciate it.
by the way, im still workin on that last environment, im tryin to get to a point where i dont have to use lines anymore, im at work right now, so i cant post it, but, im workin in some lights, experimenting with textures. ill post it, leme know what u think.
great fuckin stuff! really really lookin forward to following this SB.. keep at it.. peace!
My new sketchbook! come on in and dont be shy about the comments!
My old sketchbook - come on in and drop some comments!
Very inspiring stuff I'm going to subscribe this. I was hoping if you could give some advice on how you utilize the Gnomon DvDs? Do you go along with the video and draw as he works? Do you just watch it? etc etc. I know it's a weird question, but sense you mentioned you use gnomon DvDs to learn from (and I'm sure you learn from many things) I'd just like to read how you go about studying, and learning. Like i said before your sketchbook is very inspiring, and your first environment came out great. Keep it up!
wait a sec...you did some stuff for tgfx too?
I really like your stuff, all of it.Very distinctive style, neat design on organic and mech stuff, pencil rendering is clean, and love the marker and digi stuff too.I bet you're a fan of Feng Zhu
anyway, great stuff, post more
Wow! Awesome degins on the Walker/Meck. Another fav is the evil looking chick with one pupile standing behind a kneeling man.
Do you use markers for shading some of you sketches?
I think i add you to my favourites *added*
I like your sketchs all time.
lil update on my wip, changed the values a bit, added a lil bit of otehr colors that wouldnt normally be there.......im workin on it, ....hopefully with this one i can finally bridge the gap between "i-dont-know-what-the-fuck-im-doin" to "this is nice"
Really nice work. I've never been one for drawing sci-fi myself, but I have always enjoyed viewing it, especially when its as well done as yours.
I would love to see more pencil and marker work.
These are a couple highlight images from my old sketchbook, which seems to not be working anymnore, jsut for assosiation purposes...dont want people goin "ummm i have no idea who that guy is" lol

Seriously rocking it man. I dig some of your old stuff to man dont leave it all in the dust.
thanx waffle, lol
yes, i came across kodaks stuff, and i left him an email asking how he got his colors like that, because believe it or not, this is EXACTLY how i paint when im using actual traditional media....but my lack of knowledge with the tools of painter and photoshop is what keeps my digital art from looking as good as it should. however, im on a mission right now to learn as much as i can. Kodak never emailed me back yet, and i happened to stumble upon the brush last night in a frantic search because i was pissed that someone else knew how to do it and i didnt. so i literally tried every single brush till i found it. im glad i did tho.
