thanks man. Taking photos of oil paintings screws with the colors, there are a few cools in the painting. Oh well, when I finish it I'll update again.
Oooh, i'm excited about updates from you again Thats a sweet chow you have going there, it kind of reminds me of a posessed scarecrow or something. I agree with fedezz about the portrait, tis awesome, but contrast would improve it. I expect regular updates now that you're paying for them
yeh the dream catcher looks good so be cool to see that finished, maybe make his hands as if they are grasping somthing. The the oil is looking good but remember to put in some cool colours (been said twice before but o well)
keep at it .james.
hi .. looking really good . only thing i can say si amybe desaturate the colours as they get closer to the figure , i dunno
but apart from that ,woot
good call James. It was way late at night when I finally decided I was done. Anyway, here's a painting from class this morning.
Photos never seem to get the colors and values right for oil paintings

Thanks Fish, yeah, that enviro could use a ton more work. Like texture overlays, and stylish period details like barrels or construction or carts, and better rendering on the buildings, and actual perspective instead of made up shite. Guess the one I posted is still a WIP, maybe I'll work on it more. Good News: coup d'état, I wasn't happy with my directionless drawing class, so now it's a conceptart class. Which means I don't have to do both any more, they are one and the same, so double the work in half the time or something like that. Too bad I'm not getting any real instruction, but I'll take what I can get. Lots of freetime now. Shit, I'm using this as a blog. I'll post sketches later tonight.
edit: or not

hey, the girl is looking good just the arm that bothes me for some reason ,maybe its too thin ..as fishspawn said on the enviro sharpen up the foreground but yeh you probably would learn more from doing a new one
keep it up
That last oil... me like it Nice brushstrokes going on, so loose and fresh. What color are you using for the underpainting?
And I really like the chow pencil better than the color one. The colors/values are somewhat confusing, can't place my finger on it.
You promised some sketches, so I'm waiting for them
Heheh, finally someone gets on my case for being a lazy bastard. Yeah, English paper kicked me in the ass the last few days. Here's a sketch I did of St. Peters off a photo I had. Probably needs more work, but more just an experiment for multimedia, inkwash, and white and black conte
also, had one of my models back last night, so finished up her painting. kinda jacked the face, but the shirt turned out cool. The underpainting in both paintings is burnt siena mixed with cadmium red dark and titanium white, diluted with paint thinner, and spread however you want it. Can't stand painting on white. Wasn't a real fan of my chow either, execution wasn't as good as I had it planned in my head, but still it didn't suck as much as my second one. It didn't make it to poll, which was kind of disappointing, but oh well.
It sucks that your chow didn't make it to the poll. Even thou the color scheme is not of my liking, I think it's a good piece, and finished enough for the chow.
Thanks for the explanation on your underpainting! And yes, the shirt turned out frantastic.
Nice stuff, I really like it. Sorry for not offering any crits
Keep it up!

Yeah, can't wait to see updates on that chow. The design looks cool so far, and I'm totally diggin the pose and composition on the thumbnail.
It's looking fantastic so far. I'd maybe add in something in the far background and something in the foreground just to spice up the compo a bit, but i love the idea. (Is that the moon? if it's not, it should be, cause that would be awesome... )
looking good ,arms maybe a bit long ...?and i think you should add somthing just to show scale of the guy like a tree or i dunno a flying pig
keep it up .james.
Finished it up, thanks for the moon idea, it ended up kicking ass. Learned a lot soing this one, but took forever. Messed with a texture overlay in the arm, and put an emboss layer for craters on the moon, letting photoshop do my work for me.
yeh i likes to
i have to disagree with the pointed butt , it think its fine.
the thing that bothers me is that the background is just blue , could of put somthing a bit more intresting there .. but apart from that ,woot
keep it up .james.
